Title: No work today
Post by: telboy on February 02, 2009, 08:04:41 am
Set out for work about 5-30 am today drove about 2 miles had to return home
6 inches of snow no gritters and its going to get worse.

Roads are a nightmare here in North London
its still snowing heavily and a lot more forecast
Supposed to go to Heathrow area but no chance

There are no buses running in London at all
railways disrupted looks like its going to grind to a halt schools have been closed

Whats it like where you are

Were doomed  :'(

20cm here in Guildford, no work today either, gonna have some fun in the snow.

I was already a bit behind, I might be 2 weeks behind at the end of this.  :(

It doesn't look too bad here in Chepstow, South East Wales; it's cold and there's a few light snow flakes blowing around.

Shame really, 'cos I wanted loads of snow; I know a great hill closeby for sledging on.

Our first job this morning is an inside only (OCS do the outside  >:(), so we'll see how we get on with stuff freezing on us after that.

Shame; it's been years and years since I've seen real snow; and I've never really seen it in Chepstow; nothing much really!

Not snowing in Portsmouth at the moment. About 2 inches here, but some roads not gritted, so like an ice rink now. My brother has already had someone slide into the back of his van this morning.  ::)

Drove about 1/4 mile and gave up cos I thought I would probably end up in a shunt too.  :o

Even though there was no frost, my system was still frozen solid, so off to do the shops now, and not expecting to do much else.

Mega skint after the taxbill too... :(

Are you assuming were Southern softies again Stan?
The roads are a joke, its still snowing heavily so I aint going out, instead im gonna buy myself some ferrets and pigeons, to instill some Northern grit into me. ;D

I'm not working as the roads look like a deathtrap and it keeps snowing on and off.  I have a bit of inside work to do but I don't even want to do a five mile round trip for an hour's work.
Plenty of housework to do anyway.  Just had some 0% credit card cheques drop through the post so I'll do a late settlement with them for the taxman.  Not good budgetting but at 0% for 6 months, I can live with that.  Should be able to pay it within the 6 months as weather improves.

Trying to stay off the road in case I meet Mrs Patel in her automatic Mercedes with power steering coming the other way. She's never seen snow before.

We have a lot of snow here started yesterday dinnertime and has not stopped since.

No bus's or trains running.

We had not electricity last night due to a electric sub station about 1/2 a mile from my house exploding and by christ it was loud with a huge flash. I thought it was a bomb or something going off.
I may have lost a customer there as it at the side of there house.

The gritters have done the main roads near us but we don't live on a main road and as we live at the bottom of a  hill no one can get out.

Still the dogs have enjoyed themselves in the snow.

Mega skint after the taxbill too... :(

Squeaky there was a report in the paper last Saturday that the tax man had made a c**kup and demanded the tax that wasn't due till July.  Because it would cause mega disruption they aren't going to tell people about it, just hope they pay up without noticing.

Make sure you're not one of them - they won't tell you or give it back without you ask for it.
