Title: pump
Post by: petski2 on March 21, 2005, 07:30:59 pm
Help!!!!!!
Iv been using omnitrolley for 9 months now with the blue glass fibre poles.Never had a problem. However iv just bought an ergolite from ionics.Brilliant pole, light as a feather and comfortable.Problem is when I hook this pole up to my omnitrolley the pump works intermittently.ie:pump stop for half second, pump stop etc.Two questions, will this damage the pump and:
On my old poles they had silver connectors(male) with blue hose. This one has a brass connector with black hose, the hose looks slightly narrower could this cause it.
My dilemma is its done a great job on my windows and I want to use it tomorrow (all 3 storey cleans) but I dont want to damage the pump

If the pressure switch keeps cutting in and out it will eventually knacker it, but as to what the problem is I don't know.

  Sorry

Thanks Roy.
I just cant believe that such a tiny difference in pipe diameter could make it so bad. ???What about everyone else out there thats using the ergolite.
Thanks again. :)

Isn't there a flow regulator on your system?
It is a fairly simple matter to fit one.
On my own system, by Peter Fogwill of Aquatech, he supplies his pump boxes with this integrated into his systems.
This allows you to reduce the flow and keep the pump going smoothly.
I'm suffering brainfade at the moment and can't concentrate enough to describe how its done :-\
I know it may not be something that will suit your own system, but I'll try and post some pics of the internal gubbins of the pump box and a description of how its done. It may be of interest to others though ??? It can certainly be adapted to most systems easily enough I would think.

Hi Ian and thanks.
The only flow regulator is on the outlet pipe just before the connector for the pole.
I have just double checked everything and there are no kinks etc.
I have even disconnected the brush head as I thought there may have been a blockage there but no joy.I connected my old pole and hey presto works fine.Reconnected the ergolite and still no good.
I must point out that even though the pump is cutting out there is still a good amount of water coming through the brush, enough to give a good clean in fact.
I can only assume the problem is because of the hose being that bit narrower.
Having said that I cant believe this problem hasnt been highlighted before now, surely plenty out there have poles with this hose on.
And why didnt the place I bought it from mention it.hmmmm :-[

Put a "T" in your outlet pipe somewhere near the pump and fit a small 6mm pipe with a valve back inti the supply tank from one of the t s . This will take the excess pressure and some waterflow permanately. Its called a by pass. The valve helps regulate water at the brush head. The internal pressure switch can be a pain and can be disconnected ask the manufacturers.
The bypass T can also be used to run another brush but ideally one pump one brush.

Just tried the bypass Jeff but although it stops the pump stuttering the flow to the brush is next to nothing. :-[

Hi have you tried putting a flow restricting valve in the by bass hose so you can cut the return flow rate down

All sorted guys.
I took the hose from my old pole which is thicker and replaced onto new pole.Hey presto works fine. ;D
