Just read about the `Federation Of Small Business` on another forum.
The web site certainly looks impressive.I`ve never heard of it before
But it came about in 1974.Is anyone a member,if so,what are your
Opinions and views regarding membership benefits?
Thanks for replies,

Hi Lewis
I am a member of the fsb and their free legal helpline is worth the membership fee online. They provide many other services which are benficial - free banking with co-op is one, discounts on insurances, free document templates to down load ie contractsof employment etc. It's best to get one of their local representatives to come and see you and explain its function.

Exactly as karl said, there legal team is worth every penny because if you get investigated for tax reasons youll get a free solicitor which is why I went with them as being a sole trader in that situation would be very daunting,
(karl your the 2nd person ive seen with that pic (aviator) what is it about)

Hi Chris
Its a bit of software that uses you picture and places it into a main picture of your choosing
How are you finding work - and are you ever interested in sub-contracting work??

IMO it's well worth joining. I've been a member for several years now. The FSB was a big ally when there were drought issues.
One drawback is the payment. It is taken once per year from the nominated account. Although it isd done on the same date, there is no prior warning given. Funds were tight and it put me overdrawn a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately, I spotted it straight away and transferred some money from my personal account to plug the hole. Because Abbey now have instant clearance between accounts, I got away without bank charges.
So no warning of pending payment. No receipt issued. I have to photocopy my bank statement with the debit on it to act as a receipt. For such a professional organisation, I find this one small drawback quite amazing - especially as they are for helping small businesses.

How much is it to join for the year?

Its membership charge is dependant on how may peopleare employed within your organisation

Fees start from about £100 per year as said depending on how many you employ, well worth it!

Hi Chris
I mean sub-contract work off us. We usually sub-contract our window cleaning work out and the guy we use is already working to full capacity. We are in the process of quoting for a couple of large offices in Brighton and aways like to give them an option for window cleaning. If you are interested can you send me across your details by email ( on our website ) - will call you in to give us a quote on the windows if the client is interested. Not promising anything because its a competitive market at the moment but if succesfull maybe we can put some work your way.
