Title: bonuses for employees

what do you do about bonuses for employees?
what do you give them for and do you find it gets you more from your employe??
also what kind of basic salary do you pay??

just after some info so i can look at putting a pay structure into place

ive allways thought the bonus is they have a job  ;)

I would pay them the minimum wage as their basic salary, because this is all you have to pay them for hoildays and so on.

I would then make their wages upto £10 per hour with bonuses.  Providing they cover all of the work allocated to them in the week, I would make allowances for bad weather (pro-rota), but not for holidays, sickness, or maternity/paternity leave.

You have to lay down your terms and conditions.
Tell him if you go bust, the government will bale you out, you will then, and only then, give him a 2 grand bonus.
