That's next year you donkey!
08/09 is from the 5th April 2008 till the 4th April 2009!
How is that next year?
I suspect you mean that you'll put off paying them till next year, but my advice is to get it out of the way as soon as possible.

How's that going to work then?
I've already got a payment to make in July, so are you suggesting I do two plus another payment towards the following year?!!
Hang on, I'm sure I've got some gold bullion around here somewhere... ::)
-
Squeaks, are you telling me that after all these years you've been self-employed; you still don't know how payment on account works?
::)
-
I don't care.
I've covered my tax bill this week. :P

No, he means he's finally got it paid; though it [probably] took longer than a week to set the money aside for it.
What makes me smile though, is that he doesn't have a clue how it works; and he's been self-employed for at least 10 years!

What are you on about? ???
My tax is a fraction of that!
Of course I'm not on 5 grand a week.
If i was, don't you think my tax would be a bit higher?
-
no, you donkey... if you are on say £600 a week... your tax bill will e a few grand... and you stated that u paid it in 1 week ??? ??? ???

Squeaks,
Come round my house on Sunday evening and I'll get my crayons out and explain how the 'paying on account' or 'paying your tax on 'time'' thing works.
Bring some beer for payment.
Also bring a big crayon sharpener; I think I'll have to go over stuff a few times before you understand it.

You're the donkey; you put a 'k' after your figures in the post where you suggested Squeaks was a dodgy geezer; a 'K' means 'one-thousand'!

I never said i paid it solely this week. ???
I got together the rest that I needed.
And no, I don't average £600 a week.
So my tax isn't that high, but if I need to make more I can.
Don't forget I take £3300 off due to my van as well. ;)
-
Squeaks, if you submit your tax return shortly after April 09, you'll only have to pay the tax you owe.
If you leave your tax return till later in the year; say December 09; you'll have to pay 'on account' based on your previous years tax return. And once you submit your self assessment; you'll either get a rebate or have to pay the difference; depending on whether you had a higher or lower profit from the year before.
Does that make sense?
-
Why can't they go back to just sending us one bill each year and be done with it? ::)
It's just so they can rob people more I reckon.
-
Nope, it's a fairer system than PAYE, but I can't elaborate 'cos I'm on the laptop in bed and Wor Lass is complaining about the keyboard 'clicking'.
