Hi all

On Friday we were cleaning one of our office contracts and knocked the chip and pin machine of the counter. It looked fine when we left apart from the machine saying it was out of paper I must have put the paper thing back the wrong way.

We got this email this morning .

We arrived at our office this morning to find that our Cardnet Machine, located on the front counter, had been damaged and was not working. The machine was working perfectly well up to 5pm last Friday when we closed the office for the weekend. Not only had the machine been apparently knocked off the counter but whoever was involved tried to repair the damage and in doing so replaced the paper roller in the wrong compartment rendering the machine useless.
The machine cannot be repaired and a new machine is being sent out to us. This as you can image is creating a considerable amount of inconvenience because without the machine we cannot accept premium payments from our clients. At this stage we do not know what the cost will be to replace the machine, but when we do I will pass this onto you for reimbursement. No doubt you are insured for such contingencies!!. Please ask your staff to be more careful in future, and if they happen to break or damage something at least have the courtesy to advise you or leave us a note stating what has happend.

What would you do? This machine is rented will the company charge for a new machine if so how much.

Hi

Dont know if it helps but i used to be in the pub trade and if we dropped the chip n pin or beer splashed on it they always replaced it foc.

we always e-mail the office manager if we have problems, so maybe this is what you should of done.

Some of the machines can be hundreds of pounds, so send the bill of to insurance company and forget it.

Be more careful next time

Their not free, they cost around £200 .

Our client did say it was rented I hope they are free. I think our excess is 200

I use to support chip n pin.

Even if rented, physical damage is not covered. Its does depend on the person and company at the time wether they send a bill for the replacement.

However just by replacing the paper in the incorrect tray will not render the machine useless so, The damage must of been from the full to the floor.

I would also want to see an invoice from Cardnet. Not the actual shop. Also your insurance will want to see this invoice from Cardnet.

Also prepare your insurance company.

As previously stated, Yes I agree you should have left a note saying wha had happened. Even if it was not broken. It just covers you for future incidents as if one of the office staff or shop break something they could just leave it... and blame you or your cleaners. Who will the office manager believe then?
