Title: RO reading only 022
Post by: dd on January 18, 2009, 01:49:46 pm
Just fitted ro-man 300gpd unit. water goes in approx 185 but only comes out at 022.

Flushed it for 30 minutes (twice). Ran it for over 48 hours but 022 is the best it does.

Running pressure 52-55psi. Was advised by ro-man and cleaningspot that I probably wouldn't need a booster pump.

Do you guys think I need a pump or that I should get a better performance than 022 without?

Your reading is much too high from that tap reading and water pressure, you may have a faulty membrane.  Take a reading of the product water coming from each membrane, and see if one is much higher than the others.

I would check the membrane ppm however I would say that you need a booster pump. That shold get your reading down to single figures.

The performance should be better than that.
I have same RO and without a booster pump the water goes in at 480ppm and comes out at 23.
With booster it comes out at 7ppm.
Although a booster was said to not be neccesary, it should double your production time.
Takes me 6 hours to fill a 220L water butt with a pump. About 11 hours without a booster pump.
Troubleshoot the other options 1st. But buying a pump if you can afford will make life easier and quicker once you have one.

At your figures you are only getting 89% efficiency which really is not good enough. I would suspect that one of your membranes is not seated properly. It would be worth taking your unit along to someone who has much higher pressure and seeing if that improves it.

DD
022 is too high.
My tds is 012 to 018 after ro,BUt tap water  is 380.MY Ro is removing 95% impurities which is good.Yours is below 90% and would give the DI unit too much to do
Contact the ro-man help desk (e mail). They will go through all poss problems. Were very patient with my teething problems with a similar unit, even willing to take unit back and trouble shoot it at their own premises.
Good luck

As others have said, it's probably one membrane not seating properly, do a tds check on each membrane in turn to find out which one it is.

My water tds is 240 and after RO its 004, water pressure same as yours

Thanks for replies.

I took a reading from each membrane after a few hours. Bottom read 013, other 2 read around 40 plus.

How do I know if a membrane is not seated properly?
