In March 2007 I bought a carbon fibre fishing rod pole (replacing my whippy and heavy unger ali one) which has been brilliant - I use a golf bag to carry it and it was 30 ft long.
Over the years I strengthened it with expanding foam and gaffer tape and it works well with a red rectangular fanjet vikan brush (replacing a soft penciljet one about a year ago) to top it off.
I've cut and repaired it several times and it is coming to the end of it's useful life now as it is now about 6ft shorter and wearing out.
The firm I got it from are not around anymore and I'm looking for a replacement. I have considered an SLX but in all honesty if I can get something modular and a lot cheaper then why not?
What fishing poles do you DIY guys use and where do I get them and how much?

the popular choice seems to be the Ron thompson Zensorflex and the Gangsta, combined as a pair

I'm using an CFS MAP F16 it gets me to arond 45' marvelous pole couldnt recomend it more

There are many fishing poles out there after much trial and error I found the Zensor/Reload(now Gangster) and F16, The M16 is also a stronger pole than the F16 but more expensive, SWC has his prefered pole. Ideally you want one that takes parrallel extension sections for going higher.
How high do you want to go ?

30ft/35ft is plenty - but I want to use it for everything - domestics up to about 3rd floor flats.

There is a way of combing the zensor and gangster to get you to 35ft approx £90

2 Years since I saw the gangster, looks diff to how I remember it the art work has changed. Still using the previous model the Reload. Its an odd feel to it, quite thick ever so slightly softer walls not as hard as c/f, does wear at the joints a bit. Not like some of the old poles either, didnt used to be on the site - you had to phone them. Not as stiff in use as a c/f but is a long lasting pole.

its 11m so lose 3 and gives you approx 29ft. depending on what section and how you put your brush on, I Use no4 section of Zensorflex, but will have to try the emporium adapter that fits the Zensor/gangsta reccomended by Tosh,

also this is a strong pole takes high level of the elastic 20 being the top rateing and being 12.5m you should get a good size out of it, also there is extra extention section and they do a half butt section too all extra cost but strong pole.
