What do you need to get started in oven cleaning apart from a strong back and a weak mind ;D
Is there any specialist equipment involved? I know there is something the removables be put in thats kept in the van what is it though and what else do you need (thinking of getting the wife to do it ;D)

Think the stuf you need to set up is about 700 pounds and that includes tant, spare bulbs for the ovens, sheets for the floor and non caustic cleaners i think ???
-
I wont do them for custys only letting agents that i work for (and they know i dont like doing them) do it to get them out the poo if im doing the carpets.
F##ked one up last year, got the chem on anodised aluminium and it corroded it, within 5mins, cost me a £100 carpet clean :( got off lightly really...
Fairy powerspray is the stuff ;) harder work but safe

Oven cleaning now there is desperation for you, surely not a career move? Mind you i read somewhere on here that someones goal for 2009 was to do 50% carpet cleaning and 50% drive cleaning. Whatever ou either love this job or you don't obviously some dont.

Thanks for that informed and helpful contribution colin ::)
I was thinking of buying a small, reasonably cheap van and put a set up in that and market it as an off shoot of the carpet cleaning side ie..."our oven cleaning division" it helps to look and sound bigger than you are i think ;) There is obviously a market for it its worth looking into anyway.

Ryan, you can't possibly want to clean ovens. If you want branch out in to other areas then do hard floors or curtains, something that might give you some pride in a job well done, as something that will only drive you around the bend. sorry to be so negative, no direspect intended.

I lookied into Oven cleaning last year. I got the paperwork from the same company as mentioned above< (I think). The course was £4,000-00 :o
That was as far as I got!

Colin,
Absolutely no offence taken, but I started the oven cleaning set up because the opportunity arose, I don't like doing the job to be honest, it's filthy, smelly and back breaking.... But I have 3 kids and a mortgage to pay, I've done sh*ttier jobs and earned much less, so I feel that at least the money's good.
Once I am doing 3-4 jobs a day I'll be passing the set up, van the lot, over to a girl who has helped me out a lot in the past few months, she has a compulsive cleaning dis-order or whatever it's called, but that isn't why I use her ;)... She's always bugging me for work and she's good.... I'll become an oven cleaner's pimp I spose :D
There's more than one way to skin a cat, my aim is to be a successful business man and employer, and I'm prepared to take any honest, legal route to get me there. A bit like most of the people reading this!
Cheers, Col :)

Coli,
Respect. I like your attitude you will go far.

Thank you Colin, that's made my day that has...!
-
Thumbs up Colin defo the right attitude to be successful,
Derek,i think you should break the news to the missus now for 2 reasons...1 she has a bit of time to get used to the idea and 2.shes still abit poorly so theres less chance of her giving you a kicking ;D
Col,im afraid its too late with the bun in the oven...that ship has sailed...3 times ;D ;D
Does anyone have anymore info on the equipment as in stockists?
