Hi,
Can anyone reccemened good books for small buisness success/making lots of money etc. ;D?
Was looking at the E Myth Revisited by Micheal Gerber, any good?
Looks a bit like its just about putting systems/checklists in place to help manage people to run your buisness or to roll out your bus to more locations, but I have no one to manage so not sure it will be much good for me.
Alot seem a bit 'Zen' (meditation/visualisation)

I found all of Gerbers stuff to be crap and airy-fairy stuff, but he is surrounded by a emperors new clothes syndrome.
every one knows it a load of crap but no one will say because they think they will be the only one who thinks it and will look foolish. but its all crap!!
these are the books i recommend;
Time Tactics of very successful people. B.Eugene Griessman
this book is brilliant to have next to the toilet for when you are having a good poo and need a good read to make the perfect experience. you can open it at any page, read a couple of pages and learn something useful.
Change your thinking-Change your life. Brian Tracey
another book that has wisdom on every page. Chapter 3 'dream big dreams' changed my whole business philosophy
How to say it. Rosalie Maggio
just as it says on the tin! tells you how to say or write the correct thing on every occasion .
these book are easy to read and not aimed at university educated people, they are good books for the common man

"Think and grow rich" by Napolean hill
"how to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie

Mike those sound interesting, I'll look them up on amazon ;)
I can recommend "100 ways to motivate yourself" by Steve Chandler. It's exactly the same, in as much that you can read one bit at a time in any order, ideal toilet book :)
-
Yeah don't bother with the E-myth, it's more aimed at people who don't want to own a job and for most carpet cleaners they are happy doing that.
I believe a lot of the ideas are based on Demmings work. He took the Japanese car industry from nowhere to world wide success by measuring and improving every process and creating systems.
There's nothing stopping an individual applying these ideas to thier business and essential if you want to run more the one van, that's where most try and fail because they replicate a one man band operation.

"the complete memoirs of donald sinden" ;)!

It was mostly written in the 30's during the depression , very relevant today.
I was whinging today over losing 25 odd grand in a year on the Rangie to a supplier who has lost 60 k in 10 months on a Bentley , he is in 45k negative equity on the finance.
