Before I go any further...this is not a topic to tit for tat re: Hot v Cold

This is a question to those who have actually been using 'Hot systems'.
So if the temp overnight has been say -7 and your daytime temps are around -3 how would the hot system help?
The only reason I say this is that this morning I have been trialing various methanol mixes in pure water and I did clean my house (fully double glazed)...
Pure water that had been kept at room temp froze on the glass immeadiatly, 5% mix still froze but in a more soft slush puppy type condition...but 10% was fine and my windows with the 10% are drying fine and spot free.
But the windows with pure & 5% still have ice on them and do the cills and the ground below them. So I hope that you may see I am not taking a pop but am just wondering how well the hot adapts to these conditions and whether it can actually make any difference at all.

doesn't the hot water increase the service temp of the window slightly to allow cleaning to actually take place without it freezing.
Not actually having a hot system, im only using logic here..
But if your wer to clean you would need to put salt down to prevent that water freezing when lying on the ground.

On a day as you state above -3 you would salt below the windows, then the water simply doesn't freeze on the ground.
The system heats water on demand - we set it for use at 40 Degrees C. We clean the window, keeping the brush moving quickly to increase the temp of the glass gradually (you would not leave the brush resting in one place as this may cause cracking)
Job done windows clean!
Next the pole hoses are drained (so not to freeze the jets) and when returning to the van the minibore hoses are returned to tank and the frost stat will circulate the water if it drops below 2 degrees C in the hoses. So we avoid the system freezing (jets are the main problem) by doing this.
So by taking a couple of extra simple steps we remove the problem and take care of the H & S at the same time.

If it's really that cold don't work. I had to because i had to finish on 18 dec and could only resume into january so i am loads behind.
You can work in almost anything with hot, but the main benefit is it's much pleasanter when it's fairly cold. Days when it's minus 5 don't happen often.

from what i remember at school water freezes quicker if hot. this is due to the molecular structure being closer to steam which is almost identical to ice ???
could be i have had to many beers since leaving school 20 odd years ago and i am not remembering it correct ;D

Maybe it does but with wfp were talking about a cold system where the water is starting very close to freezing point and hot system where the water leaves the brush head at 40 degrees C - plenty of time to clean the window and for the droplets to run off / dry, unlike cold.
