have got to do some carpets next fri and am told by the general cleaning company who im working for that as well as the "normal" carpets there are some very modern long (3-4") pile bedroom carpets to do.
Now i reckon that normal spray scrub extract is going to be out, so in my head at mo im thinking of possibly light prespray with m/s or m-power and just vac off or same presprays and bonnett with pads and post grooming.
Obviously these methods arent going to be as good as extracition cleaning but i cant think how else.
any you guys got any more ideas
regards

Thats a long pile mate ???
I used to see some of those types many years ago a long shag type pile.
Think i would l m them and rake afterwards
-
what about a lawn mower. ;D
think i'd give them a miss, drying times will be through the roof and then thats what causes the problems.
but i am new so be interesting to see what the vets say.

3 or 4 INCHES? Never seen a shag pile that long, maybe uncle Ken might have done in the days they were fashionable :)
I've cleaned a few wool rugs with pile several inches long. Very thorough back-dust and extract as normal.
3 or 4 CENTIMETRES and that's still bloody long but extractable if you're careful. the most difficult thing would not be the wet part of the clean but the pre-vac. An upright's brush will most likely just clog up and jam. I've had to resort to my cylinder vac with floor tool on the very occasional shag pile still in existence that I've cleaned. Again, has to be done very very slowly and thoroughly.

Paul Pearse is the man for ts, he looked after G Harrison's carpets

He might have some good memories to share about him ???

Don't know if he ever met G H but he cleaned up, after the break in, when G H was stabbed, leaving blood around the place.
Some of the carpets were pure white, very dense and about inch and a quarter, maybe more pile length.
