Title: Connecting 300gpd RO
Post by: dd on January 10, 2009, 04:47:16 pm
Looking to order Ro-man RO (I have an expensive one from Tuckerpole that keeps breaking down).

Just wondering if I can connect it straight to the 1/2 inch hose feed from my water softener or will I need to buy some kind of fitting so it will take the 1/2 inch hosepipe.

off course you can connect it if you get the right size conectors , also I have a RO man 300gpd unit and dont use a softner so do you really need to use a softner my tds in from the tap is 500 or so and out of the RO its normally down to 10ish

I already have a softener in the garage, 1/2 inch hosepipe feed from softener to RO. Just wondering if I had to use a particular connector or if the Ro-man unit already came with a suitable fitting to connect hose.

it will probably come with 1/4" conector as thats the size used throughout the system

Yes it will come with a 1/4 inch push fit connector.

The best thing to do is replace this with a 1/4 threaded to 1/2 inch hose barb fitting then pop your 1/2 inch hose on and use a jubilee clip.

Varitech do these I think for next to nothing...  01626 830 830 is their number.

Hope this helps.  :)

Thanks for replies guys.

Planning to buy it from cleaningspot. They sell an adapter for 1/4 inch JG to 1/2 inch hozelock, so probably will try that. Makes sense to order it all together to save postage and be able to set it up as soon as it arrives.

Just had a look at collins site and e-bay listings. Looks interesting, very good prices.
