Okay a bit more serious.... ;D Never used one so not fair for me to answer directly. Are you looking to buy it? Ask to try the machine before you buy karcher dealers have demo machines. I've found it for around £400, you would probably be able to get them professionally cleaned for far less? If you are hiring, and the carpets just need a 'freshen up' it might but there are risks with this type of equipment. Whilst professional machines have big vacs and pumps they are matched and rely on the common sense of the operator not to over wet the carpet trying to get it clean. Some (not all) smaller machines have 50psi pumps or higher and weak vacs so leave carpets too wet which will cause damage. If you do use it try it out on an old off cut and practice, do one pass with the pump and 4 dry passes to extract as much fluid as possible. The carpet should feel damp not wet. If it is still wet try more dry passes, if that doesn't work don't use it. The chems supplied with hire equipment are not specific for every fibre and might damage your carpets! For another £200 you could get yourself a much better machine off ebay with all the tools you need and if you let us know what carpets you have, the fibre and amount of soiling we could advise on the chemicals you might need. Look in yellow pages, there is bound to be a supplier nearby who will help. I would say this but if you want them cleaned get a professional to do them. If you've spent +/- £3000 on descent carpeting throughout your home is it worth taking a chance if you could spend less than 10% of the initial cost getting them cleaned properly? Cars these days are complex and you would trust a mech to service it because he knows how to and is trained. Carpet cleaning is no less challenging and requires skill and training.
Cheers

Steve i agree with Simon basically they aint up to much but only you know what the state of the properties are like so if they just need a basic freshen up it could do a passable job.Anything dirtier would be harder to achieve with this small machine Regards Alan(swindon)

Don't forget everything is relative. Why do you think the TM boys look down their noses at Portable users? ;)
My first introduction to Hi Fi was a ghetto blaster, I thought the sound was fab, then I got separates and just couldn't listen to the GB anymore the sound was so awful.
So to some people what they only have experience of, to them is genuinely fantastic.

This "StevePenk" has been on the forum about 18 months and done 6 posts, 4 in general cleaning 2 in carpet cleaning.
If you remember the name "StevePenk" he is famous on radio and TV for his wind ups.
Who is the "StevePenk" posting on here? That is the question.
-
S.t.e.v.E P.e.n.K

i should of been a private investigater, i think its my calling.

You just fancy wearing the rainmac don't you Derek ;D
The relativity thing, I make a point of not tasting expensive wine so the cheap stuff will always be tolerable.
Cars are the same, made the mistake of having 3lts in the first car, second car 1275cc :'(

Steve penk was cheesy dj on key103 who did unfunny wind ups ::)
Thank god for rock radio ;D
Is it the numptie from the other place ???

Well unfortunately there are 2 or 3 of us that i know of and I hear it all the time. Beleive me all the time. If you remember when I first started on here 12 months ago I was looking to buy a second hand carpet cleaner to do family and friends with. This is no wind up I assure you, Since then I have got cancer and dont have long. hence I dont see the point in a big do it all fancy machine. I dont want to get anyone in to do it because I want to do it myself It gives me something to do when I am not in hospital and I just wondered if the Rug Doctor was any good or not.
I have thought about changing my name on forums as I always seem to come in for these wind up comment, but why should I. I get enough of his emails every week and fan mail but I really do share his name unforunately. Actually as I am older he shares mine.
I just was looking for a serious answer as to wether or not the rug doctor would do a half decent job or it was better than the Vax wet n dry lol
If I was winding you lot up why on earth would I only post 6 times in 18 months and why would it be about Rug Doctors. I dont know who you think I am but I assure you this is the only forum I frequent. You can email me from this forum and I am sure the mod will verify by my IP I dont post under any other names or on any other forums, I am geniunly looking for help and would have been answered if it wasnt for my infortunate name.
Thanks to the person that did go into detail, much obliged to you
Thanks
Steve

Many thanks for the information. I will get it done profesionally then rather than wasting my money. Just thought they may be good to freshen up the car and carpets.
Do you pro cleaners do car upholstary too and carpets too?

I dont do car valetting.
I dont particularly like doing fabric upholstery cleaning in a house, never mind in the confined space of a car.
Certainly got the machine and the cleaning fluids - just not got the proper tools I think I would need - long crevice tools etc - nor the patience (or is it endurance).
-
LOL. I may take the car to a valleter in that case they would have the proper tools.
The carpet that requires cleaning is in a vicarage in Preston.
-
