It depends on the hourly rate. If it is compact and reasonably priced then it would be worth it.

It is alot of mney to part with though so make sure you think about paying in instalments and insist on an introduction to each customer.

That makes them all around a tenner each then,

Great for collecting if thats the way you do it,

It sounds good to me.

Be aware of possible fraudster sellers though mate.

No sensible window cleaner would introduce you to all the customers until after you have paid the full amount.

I would suggest asking to help him for a day to see the quality of the work, and if it is ok then ask if you can pay half up front, work with him for a month so that you can do all the work with him.
Have an agreement written down and signed by both of you.
A letter signed by him introducing you to all the customers and explaining the transfer.
and then pay the other half.
Then you receive all the round details and any equipment included in the deal.

Also make sure that he will pass on any further customers to you, that might be rsponding to his telephine number.

I have done this in the past a number of times, when selling window cleaning rounds, and this has allayed any concerns the prospective buyer has had.

I would look at the work sheets and just do a random knock at each ends of the round,if there`s 150 houses i would knock say 10 and see what the general feeling is.

£6,000 is a lot of money. all you are getting for your money is goodwill. there are no binding contracts. see as many of the customers as is reasonable. use your loaf before handing over a load of dough. pay by cheque so you can write the cost of the round off against tax. if it looks too good to be true it probably is. up north we pay 10 x the weekly amount or 12 x if it is commercial. i have bought rounds before and had no grief but in a game like window cleaning there is scope for dodgyness. please don't give a bloke you have never seen before £2,000 cash; saying that i hope it works out for you :)

you can offset the cost of a canvasser, so if you got the guy to give you a reciept to the effect that he canvassed it for you and the cost was for his labour and not goodwill that is a viable option :)
