I can definately sympathise,i had a recurring abscess for about 2 years before i got the courage to get it out.I would go to the dentist they would give me a course of antibiotics on the basis that i return and get the tooth out but i never did until recently.Anyway go and get some clove oil and put it on the tooth, there is also stuuff you can get in the chemist over the counter cant remember the name but it comes in a small tube like toothpaste put it on and it freezes the area, but clove oil works just as well..good luck

Thanks guys,
As im off to the dentist tomorrow I just needed something to get me thru tonight. Im busy slurping whisky which is doing a mighty fine job! Today has been a bugger!
I have had to keep sucking air in thru the corner of my mouth to cool the tooth down (Im sure people must have thought id had a stroke)!!
If its not my back its something else!!

Can sympathise with you there ! had quite a bit of trouble with my teeth this last couple of years.I stopped going to the dentist just after leaving school and didn`t go back for about 17 years !
Had to go and get an emergency extraction last year,as was not registered with anyone.Since starting to go again i have had nothing but trouble :( had to have a wisdom tooth out a few months back, injection in the roof of my mouth hurt more than the removal !
then was back again last month to have a filling re doneas part of my tooth fell away ! he has told me i need a cap which is going to cost around £380 ! he said i need to get it done this month, not much chance of that ,as my tax bill needs paying !
And to top it off while eating a quality street toffee in crimbo eve ,the filling in the tooth that needs a cap fell out !
He had put some clove flavoured stuff under the filling to block the nerve, and since he did that its all i can taste,so assume it was not done very well ! have not been back to get that sorted yet ,can`t afford it >:(

As Laurence Olivier might have said in Marathon Man
"Is it safe?"
Oh, that was a good film.
-
Yes it's safe.
What is safe?
Yes Roger, a brilliant and memorable film.
Safe and happy viewing :)

Well this whisky seems to be doing the trick but Im still going to get it looked at tomorrow, after all I cant be a wino for the rest of my life because of a dodgy tooth!! I go about bi-yearly but maybe need to go once a year as dentists always suggest to keep on top of things!!

Roger and Ken...im lost ???

Marathon man was a film in the 70s where Larry olivier extracted one of Dustin Hoffmans teeth without using anaesthetic

tooth tincture from your local pharmacy , supermarkets perhaps,
its an oil made from cloves, marvelous for emergencys.
try chewing raw onion or placing some garlic on the area .

I've got a recurring abscess in one of my teeth.
Flares up every couple of months.
I just put a sewing needle in boiling water for a minute then just prick it and the gunge comes out.
Good as gold an hour or so later.
Hate going to dentists.

I had a real bad tooth last year ..tooth cracked oh well il go when i get time...oops ......ive never screamed so much...next day 3 needles ,a root canal and new filling later ...wow didnt i feel so much better

Funnily enough don't we advocate our customers have their carpets cleaned on a regular basis so they don't get into a state and need restoration work doing?
I believe we might say it's a cheaper option in the long run!
No comparison there then! ;)

My other arf works as a Locum in three practices, and they are all having real problems with people cancelling just before the 48hr no show penalty deadline.
One has just got a 'Marketing Consultant' in and she told them to put their prices UP. ;D

I used to have some trouble with my teeth and had some caped since then i go twice a year for a check up as was like you scared of the dentist :(

Hi
Have had 2 infected root canals (man, that was fun, not)
Had to have 8 injections with one of them including the one in the palate, once they had peeled me off the ceiling, a course of the strongest antibiotics sorted it out, while waiting to have it done must have gone through 4 tubes of Bongela (every four hours my A...)
I feel your pain

I go twice a year now just so I don't lose my NHS dentist.
Plus she's Asian, young and gorgeous.
Don't want to loose the tooth where the abscess is as it's the last upper back tooth on that side.#

I've just got back from having a £68 check up and consultancy. They've quoted me £747 to get my mega mashers back to A1 standard. I've had free armed forces dentistry for nearly 14 years so although it was a bit of a shock, I don't mind paying that in order to avoid tooth ache... Worse than child birth I would have thought ::) ::) ::)
For that price I'm gonna enjoy the pain!!!
