Hi people,
we have been asked to clean venetian blinds. The flimsy silver metal ones.
Is it a pain staking one by one cleaning individual metal strips or is there a faster way... Do they need to be taken down.
Is there a special peice of equipment that is available...
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

Yes they take the whole job down and put them in an ultrasonic bath, drain them off and refit

I know that one, But there are other ways of cleaning them.
What did they do before ultrasonic? Never clean them!
Ive found another way after searching on the net and thats with a brush and water, little bit of vinegar.
Will probably try this and see how we get on.

I've done a job like that, nothing else cleans them better than cleaning one slat at a time damp cloth in hot water/fairy. clean so you clean both sides of the slat at the same time. One of my most hated jobs.

Hi Dave
Venetians are my most hated job.
I dust them thoroughly first using a hand brush as this removes the stuck on dust.
Then I use a wet cloth and degreaser so I can clean each slat top and bottom at the same time. Cheap baby wipes are very good if you prefer but not very eco friendly.
The alternative is to set fire to them, I've often been tempted.

take them down and hang them against a vertical board , next using a brush water and detergent brush all facing strips turn blind over and do same on opposit side finally rinse both sides with pure water, this is the way we used to do them but now just take down and have them done at a firm that has an ultrasonic cleaner as they even manage to get all the strings like new. any money we make is from the taking down and re hanging.

Hi Trev,
Thanks for this... I will see how we get on... it maybe that after the next time we do them we insist on this.

Hi Pat, I don't believe the problem with venetians is dusting them, thats the easy bit, its washing the d*mned things thats the problem.

You dip the fibre cloth in soapy water to remove the grease and dirt
