Really as the title suggests, Is this (so far) the worst winter you have experienced weather wise. I have been wfp for 5 years now and never seen it like it has been recently just wondered what other operators thought. I suppose that so far this has been the worst weather period since WFP arrived in the UK or does anyone disagree and can remember worse? You thoughts please!

No. About 4 years I had a 3 day period where day or night the temperature stayed so low that as soon as the water touched the glass it would freeze up.

Same in 5 years of using wfp systems i think there have only ever been 2/3 days where water frooze ont he glass on my system froze up. Had 3 days in a week like that (IN A WEEK).
Speaking to customer young and old most are saying they cant remember it ever being as cold as this.

it is a cold one this yr ( only because the last couple of winters have been mild )hear we go granddad off fools n horses )i can honestly remember winters only about 5 yrs ago when my fingers have been that cold i nearly felt like packing it in .that sorts out the men from the boys .ps im still a wimp

Ive got to say i thought it would be worse then this when i came into it, not looking forward to the raining days as theres more chance i wont get work done on those days.

its been a poor year for work, a fair whack of rain in he summer months
i was looking at my accounts, this year while its not been that bad, its well down on last year

When the forecast is 0 deg's or below I have always put my W-f-Poles, hose reels, buckets, applicators and squeegee's in the garage over night. This is also where My 1000LT static system is kept. It never drops below freezing in my garage so this has always worked as long as I remember to unload the van at the end of the day! :)
I have a 650LT DI system in my van which is fitted inside an insulated cabinet. This week is the first time in three winters using W-F-P that the hose pipes, pump's and DI vessels have managed to freeze inside my van :'(
So on Monday I lagged all pipe work, pumps and DI vessels and bought an electric green house heater which I've been using all week. this seems to have solved the problem of the working parts in the van from freezing :) Although I have still had the hose reels and W-F-Poles freeze up when working. However I have managed to thaw them out and get working again within an hour or so.
I have also got through 50kg of sodium grit this week and have had to schedule certain job's which I felt would be most appropriate due to the cold weather. I suppose in this business we have to take the bad with the good I still wouldn't want to be doing any other job :)

One of my employee's has just come back from his Xmas holiday's "Monday" It's been around -15 where his family live's in Poland. I'm so glad it's not that cold here in Bristol :)
