Title: Warm Winter Working Socks
Post by: L.Doubtfire - The Blade Runner on January 07, 2009, 06:28:24 am
Can anyone recommend good warm working socks for these really
Cold working days? The ones I get are multi pack efforts saying
That they are this that and the other, but after only a few times worn
They have massive holes in them,so just end up throwing them away.

Thanks for replies.

I got mine from a camping/hiking type army surplus shop. They are called sea boot socks. I've had them for years.

Sealskinz, excellent socks, fully waterproof, very expensive, they also do excellent gloves if you're wfp.

I wear Bridgedale walking socks, cost about £10-12/pair, but are excellent, really warm and hard wearing.

Went to my local outdoor shop this am.Looked at Bridgedale Sealzskin
Socks….Normal lenth £22 per pair,knee lenth…£28 per pair!.
I ended up getting a pair of Bridgedale Explorer Knee lenth hiking socks
Mainly wool content for £9.99p.I`m not paying up to £28 for a pair of
Socks choose how. They certainly feel comfortable and warm.

Yes the hill walking socks are good for keeping your feet warm.

But if you want the socks to last, you need to cut your toe-nails, Lewis.

Go to www.bridgedale.com there`s loads there to look at.
These woollen socks sure do seem comfortable and warm.
Waterproof should`nt be an issue really with proper boots/
Shoes.
