Title: frosty ro unit very lucky
Post by: doak on January 06, 2009, 11:15:56 pm
my r o unit is kept in my brick shed covered in bubble wrap,  but the darn froze through the pipes (although they were covered too)   put it indoors to defrost and whilst waiting phoned r o man to ask what happens if freezes,  lady told me to test it but be prepared to throw away as most of time     knacked.
so i got in a bit of a panic and tested it  :o :o

guess work      works a dream with no leeks 0 tds reading

i have learned my lesson and in the winter it shall live indoors    :D

I saw the same thing on some RO man advertising stuff recently and was quite surprised.  A lot of the time I have had to replace the pre filter housing, and the odd membrane here and there, but no one that I know of has had to throw their system away.  Surely if you had to renew all the filters, then it is still cheaper than buying a new one.

noticed my ro was froze. took it inside , defrosted and all was ok. my membranes though were only frozen on inlet side.think it was just water that had settled.
