Quite agree about personal visits, often find that the ones who want a phone quote are timewasters, but NOT always.
-
If you quote over the phone you invariably will have problems.
Ive had people insist I give a quote over the phone and work it out as what they say is true then generally at least double it if not treble. Its quite a convenient way to avoid picking up awkward customers.
-
Never have done that, your opening yourself up to all sorts of trouble half the time they ask and don`t mention half the windows that you come across when you get there.
-
I do nearly all my quoting on the phone, allmost never have any issues other than the same ones I had when I was viewing each job.
-
yes...i agree.... you ask how many windows they have?....they cant count :olol.... :o
-
Can you do the frames? Yes Madam.
When you get there you've seen cleaner pig-stys!
-
But Matt stuff like that happens all the time weather you have visited in advance or not, what about the 6 weekly that has just had their house painted and you turn up to do your usual clean? handle it in the same way as you would that.
Costs a lot of time and money to drive around doing quotations, I would rather be ridden rotten by 1 or 2 customers a year than waste all that money and there is nothing to stop me changing my mind when I see the job if I feel like it, thats the beauty of being self employed.
-
Yea and you can then allow for a pigsty. But you dont if you quote over the phone.
-
matt you should quote over the phone
if you turn up like your pic

I have a minimum charge for different houses. Asking the customer a few questions on the phone then telling them your min charge gets rid of the time wasters, and as long as you tell them its a rough quote price then you have nothing to worry about.
Saves traveling to quote. I arrange my first clean to coincide with when they are in, then I re-negotiate the price if I need to.

I charge £1 per window so can give them a rough price on phone. Obviously a bay window is £2 and so on. 3rd story window is £2 too.

Commercial -no
For large residential I ask them to send me a couple of pictures (mobile phone) and then I do. We cover a big area and without doing this my turnover would be considerably lower - of course we sell it as being environmentally responsible.
