Title: HXTel 28 Hybrid Pole Broken in 5 months
Post by: ants on January 04, 2009, 08:12:38 pm
I bought this pole late Aug 08 the end split and became weak by 19 Dec 08.

I rang cleaning spot to ask if there was any guarantee on them, they said NO its a problem with those type of poles.

They didnt mention anything when I was handing over £292.88 though.

Ive managed to botch repair it and Ive converted a harris pole to keep me going for now.

Anyone else had this problem or can recommend a good pole?

That's odd; I've used a longer version of the same pole for nearly a year now and have had no problems what so ever.

It's even been allowed to fall over when it was opened up to do a third floor flat!!!

I hope I'm not tempting fate now :'( :'( :'(

Does anyone know what the consumer rights are over stuff like this?

As in 'fit for purpose' and all that... I mean if I buy something electrical I would expect it to last me at least 1 year, and if it doesn't I know I can get if fixed or replaced for free.

I have four different sized Hybrid X-Tels The oldest one is 2 years old. I have had no problems at all with them.

Did you know you can replace the individual sections? Just buy a new section.  Or if the split is at the top of the first section cut it and re glue the end screw thread.

Hope that helps  ;)

You would need to check with your local trading standards office, but if a supplier was selling a product that they knew was having problems then you might have a case against the consumers act

P.S I repaired it  by cutting and glueing but it not very strong
