I recently posted a question about client database software. was told some microsoft small business programmes could be what i am looking for.
But i have just found a site advertising some software designed FOR CARPET CLEANERS called "cleaners mate" have any of you heard or used this if so what is it like, and are there any others you are using that are designed for just use carpet cleaners. Cheers

James
I have the software you mentioned and am very pleased with the way it works.
I must admit to being very IT illiterate. I've tried to work with MS databases in the past, but I just don't have the skills to make it work for me.
As you've already found the Cleaners mate website, I presume that you've watched the online video tutorials and perhaps downloaded the free trial. It really is as easy to use as they show you. It must be if I can use it ;)
Although I haven't done any marketing with Cleaners Mate, I've done trial examples and its easy to perform. For me, the main motivation to build a database is for the future. It will give me a business to sell when I retire. Without it, all I'll have is a few old second hand machines.
Like any "off the shelf" product, it is not perfect for everyone, but it's probably as good as your likely to get this side of a custom made product just for you. But it's not far off, and Kevin has already sent me a couple of updates to improve it further. I feel it's good value for someone lacking in computer skills like me.
Safe and happy cleaning :)

Bit of a long thread, but you'll find out most of what you want to know in this Cleanitup thread:

It begins in earnest about halfway down this, the second page.

Many thanks Ken i will download it and give it a try, the problem i usualy have with software is that you only use a tiny percentage of the programme like with the Microsoft stuff, but as this is targeted at carpet cleaners it should be a lot better, i wonder if it has the facility to produce envelopes from the client database that would be very handy, just produce letter saying "special offer" etc and just let it print off.

I tried downloading it but couldn't as my pc runs windows m.e and it wont let me do it :-[

Thats 40 mins still not downloaded ,going to give it a miss or has anybody got a quick way to get (not very good with computers)

After a long hard think I finally took the plunge and how pleased I am with this piece of software, what I really like about it is I'm able to email quotes/invoice commercial clients in pdf format.
Well worth the money
-
I agree Steve. I bought it a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely delighted with it.
The company can put you in touch with a software person who can transfer your existing database into it for a few quid. I had 6 years worth of clients to transfer over and had not really fancied doing that myself.
And the company's customer service ethos is first rate as well.

Whenever CM is mentioned I always have to reply, it's made my life so much easier and doing quotes on it and emailing them to prospective customers seems to impress them. I particularly like the graphs you can produce on it to see how things are looking at a glance.
Any snags, you ring Kev who has the patience of an angel, I'm like Ken in that my computer skills aren't the best! This is an easy system to use once you get into it and the added back up of the customer service make it a bargain too!

i had the demo but have'nt bought it as yet
i;m looking for a version that can work like the Alltec fasttrack quote
e.g you can put in named rooms and the sizes and it works out the square foot and the different prices according to your various services, you can also mix and match services to come up with exact quote
spoke to kev who said they were working on a version that can do this as well as all the other stuff it already does
-
Have a word with Kev see if he can adapt it for you, he's very accomodating you know.
Derek does your new laptop come with vista or windows XP?
Shaun
-
vista :'(
derek
-
i like Vista, think it is so much better than xp. Got ped off with it to start with cos i had it when it first came out and none of the hardware you could buy in the shops worked with it even though kicrosoft had been working on it for 7 years and the coding for it had been released way before vista was released to the public
Cheers Goron

What does it cost ?????????????
-
around 1 and a half jobs depending on how much you charge, so not a lot really.
derek
-
Derek so how much is one and a half jobs up your way ?
-
see this is the problem i have, "some" people seem to think affordable means cheap and it doesn't. your mortgage is affordable, but fck me it aint cheap.
£215 for 1 an half jobs is very affordable when you think about the fact i do a quality job. and can i just point out that i'm on a roll with quotes, the last 11 quotes have been nailed so i must be doing something right. plus the speed of a truckmount means i clean alot more carpet for my customers money.
affordable high quality cleaners, thats my name, don't wear it out. ;D

(in best chinese voice) Joe Polish always say, if you get all of your quotes you are not charging enough!
Shaun
-
this week
£1245
estimated time of work, (not inc travel) 19 and a half hours.
i'm charging enough thank you.

Good point about the "Affordable" not necessarily meaning "Cheap"! It was me who wrote something before but I realised that you maybe weren't refering to the price of CM. So I binned the comment... I did put a smiley face up to verify that it was tongue in cheek... Can't beat a bit of banter ;D
-
Nice work Derek but I'm sure you are savvy enough to see where I'm coming from.
I'll do 25 hr working hours this week £1.36 I love this job.
