That says permanent marker ink can be removed from carpet the following way.
Liberally spray with hairspray and allow to dry. Area is then doused with warm water and scrubbed with a medium firm brush and then blotted dry using paper towels. Repeat process if any remnants remain.
Anybody tried this??

Hi Guys
I did a solvents thing at this years day out and will probably do something similar again this year if thats what the chaps want
Ink is very difficult to remove but if you carry a range of different solvents, many of which are commonly available then it is surprising what you can do.
As Shaun says hairspray contains some solvent and therefore will remove some staining but it is much better to use a prpoer solvent than a blend of many other chemicals , most of which would hinder the dissolving.
Cheers
