AS you can see i am a new member and joined in the last week. I feel morally obligated to inform JONAH and alot of other members who criticized him, when he was quite correct in having SERIOUS concerns of a post which was made by Stuart Booth (aka qcs cleaning, Aka scott marshall, aka michael Gorden, aka Dean Daunton etc.. ect...) selling work in surrey. Thanks to Jonah raising these concerns i was able to meet Stuart Booth who was selling work that didnt exist. In the last 2 months he has sold 2 rounds to different people -for the sum of 8k. Foolishly the 2 parties one of which was me parted with a 'deposit' only to find out that the work didnt exist. Stuart Booth is his real name and through a sting operation he was arrested tonight and is having his house searched by the fraud squad as we speak.
This man uses 10-12 different names with different addresses and mobile numbers and when i was 'done last week' i started searching forums like this to see if i could somehow find a link ?? Thanks to Jonah when i typed in dodgy round i found a person called stuart booth( who i knew as Michael gordon ) when i read the MASSIVE THREAD that started with Stuart Booth trying to sell a round in surrey it became clear there were definate similarities-yet Jonah was laughed at, humilitated and even made to apologise for what i would now call 'Due Diligence' Jonah i dont know you but many thanks!!! if you had never raised your concerns in Feb this year we might never have caught him tonight. Thanks too for this forum and the moderators who moniter it!!!!!

Hi Flybefly,
Just recently I responded to an advert from Micheal Gorden regarding a window cleaning round that was a priced very cheaply. He replied that due to the amount of interest he was asking for half the money up front to scare of the messers & dreamers. I declined.
would IT BE OK TO POST HIS EMAIL TO ME on cleanitup?
Kevin WINDOLENE.

Or even allegedly ;)
I even "googled" that so I didn't make an arse of myself when being pedantic. :(
-
Hi Kevin i have sent you an email to your address. Wether you decide to post it on this forum is up to you. But this guy has posed as both scott marshall and stuart booth on this very forum. I witnessed tonight first hand him trying to do it to a 3rd person! For anyone else reading this jokes aside i am not Jonah and the twofold purpose in posting this was to thank Jonah but more importantly to save people the pain i and who knows how many other victims of this fraudster have suffered.

The link is still on the net with his details :- www.windowcleaningroundforsale.co.uk/html/rounds5.html
Someone else posted a warning some time back on another forum and it was not Jonah about this happening in Surrey.
Flybe many thanks for the warning. Guys this does happen, I have heard so many true stories of this happening and lives effected. This is why I am putting all effort in the licensing system in Scotland as my pet hate is people being ripped off.
Cheers
Doug

This was the advert,
I think we should ask wc resources to confrim why the site has been taken off, then the truth will be made known. But his email address seems odd.Enough from me, not judging :-
Posted 27/11/08
Location: Putney, Wandsworth, Southfields, Roehampton (South West Area)
Type: Domestic
Monthly Average Value: £4,500 pcm
Established For: 4 years.
Comments: Traditional methods used but switch to WFP would be no problem. The round is very compact spending 1 day on each road, so no need to travel around. Good paying customers who all pay cash. Been worked by me for the past 4 years providing a good solid business income with no mess you about customers. All up to date. I am selling this business because I am bored of window cleaning.
Asking Price: £9,000 (negotiable)
Contact Details: Michael Gordon

I suppose the round will be going cheaper if he goes to jail ::)

On the extremely rare occasions when I bought work, if all other things looked like I wanted to do the business - price/area/type of custy etc - I always insisted on being introduced to them all.
Or if I was buying say 50 custies I would want to see the list and jab a finger at any dozen and say take me there and introduce me.
If they won't give up an hour or two to seal the deal then there is something fishy.

I just had a quick look through that thread. There was nothing of substance to indicate that the seller might be dodgy (IMO of course). If there is any truth to the recent allegations, it must emphasise the bit about buyer beware. I still think that some kind of escrow system woud be helpful.

hi

This is balls! I know it's balls as this is the area I work and I know 110% that switching to wfp would be not only be "no problem" but as good as impossible.
Why else is the geezer using trad if he could go wfp?

Ah Simon123 or Jonah whatever...nice to read the ramblings of your not so right mind... ;D

I think we should ask wc resources to confrim why the site has been taken off, then the truth will be made known.
There WAS an arrest made yesterday of Stuart Booth, Surrey. (QCS Cleaning).
I was made aware a few months ago that somebody had bought a fraudulent window cleaning
round from a ‘Scott Marshall’ who had used our site to advertise the ‘work’.
You may have noticed that since then we put a warning on the site in an effort to prevent fraudulent activity.
Last week I received another report of a fraudulent round purchase in the same area - Surrey.
We did some research and found that a ‘Scott Marshall’ had also posted on this site. When doing a search for ‘dodgy round’ we came across the thread by QCS Cleaning (Stuart Booth) shown above in which Jonah used this expression.
Similarities were seen which linked the two together.
From these similarities we were able to identify other rounds as being ‘suspect’.
A meeting was set up with one of these alias names, 'Dean Daunton'
Although he was supposed to be Dean Daunton, he then provided the same mobile number as ‘Michael Gordon’. So a confirmation was made that it was the same guy.
The police were informed of the meeting and the arrest was made once the fraudulent work list was obtained.
We have removed suspicious rounds that fit the pattern. However, we would appreciate hearing about any other suspicious dealings you may have had with people selling rounds so as to make sure we have removed all of them.
There are obviously many legitimate rounds advertised, but we would like to emphasize the need to be vigilant and excercise due dilligence before parting with your money.
In light of the recent events we will be chaging the way rounds are advertised to minimise the risk of people posting non existing work.
Making a small payment through PayPal before posting the round means we will be provided with address details of those posting rounds.
We will also have a link where you can report suspicious rounds to us. If anyone has further suggestions as to how to improve the security of the site, we’d be happy to hear them.
We apologize that we have inadvertently advertised in good faith these fraudulent rounds. However, we are happy to have played a significant role in the process which has lead to his arrest.
We ask that anyone else with information that could prove helpful to communicate this to Sutton Police.

Hercule Poirot has got nothing on you guys!

Good idea re paypal.
Have you any idea if it would be practical to set up an escrow type system? I wouldn't know where to start with such a thing but maybe someone does.

It's an interesting idea.
I googled that this afternoon after reading about it in this thread. It seems to be American based from what I've seen so far which might put people off, but I will have another look.
It would be up to the buyer and seller to make the transaction going down that route but I can certainly put a link to the service.
If there is a similar UK based system it would go down better I think.
-
Cheers Mark for clearing that up. A big thanks to flybefly for bringing this to our attention.
I'll leave the rest upto you guys. ;)

hi i am part of aperson called legiion! im not sure who i am today?
-
Yeah, I met up with this messer (known to me as Stuart Booth) originally a few months ago but things didn't quite add up for me so didnt take it any further. At that point he wanted £15k - boy am I glad I didnt part with that amount of cash.
I met him at his house and even know where he worked - he was obviously playing at very silly, dangerous game.
It actually makes life really hard work for window cleaners trying to sell genuine rounds.
I feel genuinely sorry for those people caught out by this ****hole.
