Title: Numatic CT470-2 for startup??? Your View? Link Enclosed with spec.

Would this do as a base to start up with?

Would this provide results similar to or better than Rug Doctor?

What other equipment do i need alongside this to "clean a carpet with it"?

What PSI would this provide?

Great price but you need to up your site alot!

These machines (I have had one) have a poor pump and the tooling is crap!! your rug dr will do a better job, go to ebay and look for a 2nd hand machine, you need minimum 100psi water pump and dual 2 stage vac.

OK first off put all your profile up if you seriously want help, maybe someone local will offer to show you the difference between the RD and a reasonable portie.

The other thing is you say you made 1500 one montha and 1800 another now if that was me I wouldn't blow it on tabs and special brew and save up over a few months and spend 1k on a decent second hand machine.

If you really made that much amonth and want to spend a couple of hundred on a machine you really do need to get your head screwed on.

whoops pressed the wrong key,

I am a newbie too, but I wouldn't dream of starting up with something like this. I would say this was aimed at the homeowner who wanted to do their own carpets, not a commercial cleaner.

Try Ashbys, Cleansmart or Alltech they all do business starter kits, but be prepared to send at least £2,500 on basic equipment, if like you say you have £800 to start on your other thread then you could easliy get the rest on credit. Don't forget though you will also need money for van, insurance, training, marketing, the list goes on and on, but I am looking to spend a minuium of £8,000 to £10,000 to get started.  I know Ashbys do reconditioned Ninja's,  and you could always try ebay, but my advice for what its worth is to do research on this site, there is lots of advice hear, you just have to do a bit of digging.

This is my opinion for what it's worth.

You are looking at equipment which is simply not animal enough for the job or to be brutally honest to be taken seriously as a professional carpet cleaner.

With the budget you currently have I'm afraid you will be limited to second hand equipment, look at e-bay or on here under items for sale.

You should be looking at: Prochem, Ashbys, Alltec, Extracta etc; have a look at their websites to get an idea on specification then see what deals you can get on used models.

Numatics, Karchers, Rug Doctors etc are not what you should be looking at.

Read through some of the old topics - the questions you are asking have been answered loads of times before, even in the last 6 months. Yes it can be confusing but do some more research and you will find all the answers to the questions you have.

Just my opinion and hope this helps.

Carpet cleaning machines are like School blazers always buy them bigger than you need so you can grow into them!
Trust me buy small stay small

Thanks for the advice so far but any1 got any links to machines that i should be looking for? What about this one?

http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=627

What websites should i look on? Spending thousands is out of the question. Carpet cleaning in my area is very competative with adverts in the newspaper saying 3 carpets 12'x12' for £75. Thats from truck mounted company. I just need something to get me started that lives up to Rug Doc standard.

Now come on, you said you made 1500 one month and 1800 another. If you do the same for 2-3 months you could spend a grand on a machine.

Keep away from the numatics, crap tools, go for something that will get you recommendations, no one on here has a numatic (they may have had one but moved on fast)

I'm gonna say it..... You're gonna struggle! Nothing we can say on here is going to help you in my view, this is because you're obviously not in a position (financially) to under take this profession to that next level.... If I was you, I'd be working in bars, waiting on, valleting cars and almost anything else to raise the funding!

Getting it right from the start is paramount, I know that and have only been in business since June.... Referals are my main source of income at this moment in time as is the van signage!

I wish you all the all the very best for the future!

Colin.

If is Johnny Clarks son your up against ( A 1 Powerclean) he uses these kind of  numatic machines as spotters!
You need to raise your sights to the next level and go for at least twin vacs with a min of 100 psi to compete.

'I have made £1800 for the last month and £1500 the month before hiring the rug doctor and thats after costs. Why wont this work? I feel my standard of work is excellent - even if rug dco is rubbish I dont leave the house until I have finished. They have all been happy and a lot of repeat. Im looking for rug Doc quality for cheapest machine possible.'

Sorry mate but I can't take you seriously when you compare this from yesterday to what you are saying today.

£1800 a month!
happy customers!
no advertising!
no devalueing equipment!

wheres the problem.
stick with what your doing and spend the £800 on advertising, or better still, viking lager, @ 25p a can thats, 3200 cans. that will last a fortnight.

ps.... any tips for a struggling newbie who's stupidly spent £40,000 on setting up. if only i'd of known.
derek
