Title: cleaning stairwell fire escape windows
Post by: window wonder on December 15, 2008, 04:27:22 pm
Hi folks
I clean the stairwell  windows on 6 blocks of new build flats, most of the windows turn in but there are 5 windows that are fire escape doors  that open automaticly only if if the smoke alarm or firealarm is set off and i have to get the ladder off to clean these trad  :(
I cant use my wfp as the windows have railings covering the lower half and is too much hassle messing about trying to get the brush between the railings So.....
Does anyone know how i can get the doors open ( without setting a small fire in the stairwells ) :P
Is there an override switch in the utility room or something?????

there should be a button in stairwell to open fire windows but possibly it is encased and needs a key to get to it.....also when closing them i think some slam shut so there are possible health and safety legislations on them been used for cleaning!!!! yes i would contact the mamagement for advice

the panel is by the comm door or at the top landing
