Being a mere 57yr old fledgeling and having a useless pension just wondered how much cleaning life I have in me! ???
Does anyone know what the record is for the oldest C cleaner?
Don't think I can fit a zimmer frame in the Van ;D

15 months ago I bought a DF system of a guy in Nottingham who, if I remember right, was 71 and just giving up cause of helth reasons.
Made me feel quite young - and I was 60 then.
-
There's a guy a few miles away from me who must be at least 71 who still cleans carpets with his stimvac, I used to speak to him years ago before I started cleaning as he used to go in the pub where I used to work occassionally he passes work to me that's why I know he's still going.

Dave Lee will be cleaning at 100. He is on the Alltec waiting list for the CYBERBOD 2000 ;D
-
Dave keeps himself very fit he keeps running those fells (you'd have thought he'd have looked where he was going) and also he earns good money working with Barry Chuckle.
To me to you!

I hope I'm as fit and healthy at his age.

Doug Holloway is on his 3rd marriage, does that count?
I'm on my first and feel washed up so Doug must feel like one of those WWI veterans ;D
-

Looks like were spring chikens then ;D
-
My ex still rings me up to nag me. :(
-
Mike

-
Sometimes I feel like Rex Harrison in Blyth Spirit. ;D
Do you get it too from ex's Clinton, phonecalls I mean.
-
Hi Guys
Thanks Pete, but I've only beem married twice !
However each marriage adds about 10 years to the working life so if I stay single expect to be packing in about 80.
Mind you have had man flu this week but there's still a bit of life left in the old boy yet.
Tony Abbott round here must be getting on for 70 and Dave ware is a fit 63 ish
Cheers
Doug

-
Ollie
We share the same birthday-Christmas Eve.
The only trouble is I shall be 46!
Still, at least I am nearer to retirement and not having to slog around cleaning carpets.
Roll on 50!
-
Roger
Must say you look good for your age :)
You still got that bottle of bubbly :D
-
Clinton
Only because my age has finally caught up with my looks :'(
-
::)

Roger
Are you all right now I know you were saying you had a major health scare. Didn't you need and Op.
Mike
-
Yes thank you Mike.
During the summer I had a very large (6cm x 3cm x 1cm) tumour removed from inside my nose/cheekbone. (They peel your face off your skull to get to it :o :o :o)
All gone but I still have my party trick of taking a drink and being able to squirt it out of my nose!
What with that and the remains of another exotic tumour still in my back it's my intention to retire from cc-ing as soon as I can after my 50th birthday by hopefully selling my business to an interested party. Failing which I shall just run it down.
Cleaning carpets is, I would submit, generally speaking a young person's game and as such this is another reason why we should charge properly for our skills and service as I don't think there are many who would choose to be still cleaning at age 65.
Better to get to 50 and realise I have to work a little longer than assume I am going to retire at 65 and get to 60 and find that I just can't carry on.
(And yes I know this is a general and sweeping statement, so don't anybody take it personally.)
-
That's good news Roger. I think things like this put every day in perspective and appreciate things that pass most people by.
Show us your party trick at the CCDO ;D

Mike and Shaun,
Someone mention my name? I am nearer my 63rd than my62nd and I also have not got ideal pension provision so I am aiming to carry on at least until I am 70, health prevailing etc. I am not as fit as I usually am as I have been struggling with a bad groin strain since March and theres no sign of any improvement yet. Despite this I did manage to complete the Pennine Way in 9 days, as opposed to the usual 3 weeks, carrying a tent and all, in September, averaging 30 miles a day.
I remember when I was in my 30s thinking that I would not be able to carry on with carpet cleaning after the age of 45 and then after 50, then after 55. Now I dont think about it, I just keep going. Even after 70 if able I may still do some jobs, or work a couple of days a week, who knows?
Dave.
-
Maybe the groin strain is the clue to your youthfulness. ;D
-
it's all in the mind, my old dad is nearly 90 and only packed in his part time gardening job last year because we nagged him about his terrible driving and so he couldn't get to the jobs, up to then he was sawing branches and all the other jobs you do in the garden. i will want to keep going as long as possible to keep out of the way of the wife!!!

if you want to live to ripe old age don't be fat, how many fat people over 75 do you see? not many.
your body has a hard enough time as it is without carrying around pounds of blubber.
-
I'll bear that in mind Mike, maybe you should leave your wallet at home like a real Yorkshire man, I dare say that gets heavy at times :P
-
;D
-
Leave it at home for the wife to get her grubby mitts on? no thanks!
After her mammoth 'let's empty meadowhall' shopping expedition I will be working into my old age or even later until I get to Dave Ingram's age.

My old mans 56, and is really fit, some of us young un's including me would struggle to keep up with him working!! he still runs and goes to the gym, he was a black belt kick boxer instructor
He will cram more into a day than I will and im 31.
Makes you realise how important it is to look after yourself. Will make all the diff later on, I think he be carpet cleaning into his late sixies maybe seventies :)

Me offended!? I dont think you would offend me. Actually I dont recall the exchange, perhaps it was just the way I responded. Us old gits can be a bit cranky at times at times. ;D

I did my knee in playing rugby earlier this year, just had the op on my cartlidge and ligament. I was really peed off about the knee, I was hoping to get to play 'till 60.Wont get a game this year now, but roll on next year. (my other half hid my boots so I wouldnt play, but I found them again.)
Been really busy this last few weeks and not just Christmas custys, EOT cleans, upholstery cleaning, wine stains call out on Sundays etc etc, commercials, list goes on.
