Title: Pole on roof-rack
Post by: Oakley Windows on December 09, 2008, 06:36:06 pm
Do any of you guys fix a pole or poles to your roof-rack?

If so, how??

(Id have thought most would use a 4" piece of soil pipe) and if you use the soil-pipe method how do you stop the pole falling out the pipe whilst driving along?

Was also thinking of screwing 38mm pipe-clips to the roof rack bars, or whatever size necessary, to clip the pole onto and then it can be 'snapped' out when you reach the job.

Thanks

Matt

i use the black gutter pipe screw cap at the front and just push the poles in the back the hose holds them in at first i used to always use a bungie strap to hold them in but there is no need

one hook to the straps that hold the pipes down and the other end to the y piece, still would use it the odd time on the motorway just in case

Do you just slide the pole into the pipe and thats that?? No cap, strap, bungee or anything else?? Or do the poles just sit in there loose?

I use a rhino pole rack, just have to take the brush head off.. although when im driving about i leave the brush head on between jobs and the pole stays in place...

It is polycarbonate, triple centrally locked and is parked under CCTV! The box alone is worth more than the vehicle.  :D

LOL,.. I should think so with all that loot in there!!!

Personally I only ever keep thinks on the roof rack that I wouldn't be upset about if they got stolen,... ladders for example!

the web site is scorpion /the item is self explanatry i think ,(picture)  i use these fastenings daily to fasten the pole to my van instead of all the hassle of a pole either on the roof or dripping water in the van. only at the end of the day do i put the pole in the van . If i knew how to post a picture i would do.

i am never disappointed by some of you people!!!!!!.i have screwed these on to the edge of my roof at the side .I work out of the side of my van and when i finish a job and have to move on i clip the pole and wind in the hose ,i close the side door trapping the pole hose which causes no problem and i am ready for the next job within seconds of arrival. They are about 15 quid a pair and i find that you dont even need the little strap part closing to hold the pole.they are made out of vulcanised rubber and i haVE USED THEM FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS AND THEY ARE STILL THE SAME AS NEW.

same with me with my tube, all i have to do is run it down the tube then stick pole hose in the door and screw on keeps it tight takes about 10 seconds if that and away you go.

Actually the 400 is for my RO production, Im actually having a 350 in the van.

Dont forget to add 100mm to tank dimensions to allow for a cage (if thats the way your doing it)
