Thanks Martin.
Always useful to have a name for when that extremely rare occurance happens and you're not sure what to do.
Hope you get really busy from it and here's to 2009.
Regards.

I've often thought of doing a course in this subject, I think it could be a good money earner. when You think about it The market for this service is massive. all it takes is a little marketing ;)

Hi All
Guys, thanks so much for the positive input.
I did the NFS course, absolutely fascinating course, very in-depth, be prepared to come away every night shattered, as so much info is pumped in to the brain.
Pete, no problem at all, as soon as we are up and running and the jobs are coming in. you will have to sign some paperwork for H&S reasons.
If you guys have Sky3, they are showing Grimebusters in the day time and you can see the kind of stuff that happens.

Martin
Have seen that on sky 3 :)
Good luck to you mate :)

so how do you go about marketing that type of work, its not like you could do leaflets. ;D
ps... that was a serious question, now comes the obligatory jokey bit.
i would have no idea how to market a trauma style business, but i could have a stab at it.
i know, it just wasn't worth it.
but seriously, do you contact the police and council direct etc.....
derek

Best of luck to you guys who fancy this, personally it's way down my to do list.

I think I could try it out at the inlaws.

Cheers Martin.

is this the same as what you done martin www.nacsc.co.uk

yes or no ?????????????

The most important aspect for anyone contemplating this business is to be sure you can cope with the phsycological aspects. Seems great and macho when you see it on the telly but when you actually get to the scene it can play on your mind for ages afterwards.
Last one I did, bloke killed his ex wife, her brother and his 2 kids, all multiple stabbings. Great when you are in the thick of it, bit hairy when you go back on your own to check things and issue a clearance certificate. All those noises.
-
On a serious note,
Someone could make a killing from this.
-
Hi
I did the NFS course
www.natonalfloodschool.co.uk
The mental aspects do have to be considered also as John has pointed out.
Must admit my wife is concerned about that area.

Thats a good point John. If you are approaching this with the macho thing then your motivations are wrong. I think knowing that it is a rough job to start with is the first step. If you have had a sheltered life than perhaps this is not for you. Still, I am only thinking out loud as I don't think any of us (without experience) can truly understand the impact an environment like that would have you until you are in the middle of it.

It is not all blood and gore , yesterday ,I cleaned a toilet ,and macerator which was blocked , in a mobile phone shop staffed only by women, there was all sorts down there, and more! but the invoice will be for far more per hour than I have ever earned in 16 years of carpet cleaning.
There is loads of this type of work about if you know where to look.
-
if i was going to do this course i would target the police, social services, and any other organisations thta deal with this type of work,
police would call you in to clean the cells after the dirty naughty people have smeared poo all over the cell, and may have done them selves harm even,
social services deal with the elderly and would call you in to clean after a person has died for a long time after they have neglegted them, (as they do)and woul clean it to make room for another coffin dodger to move in.
county councils would call you in after they have found people in their public toilets done some silly things
pubs and night club owners, would call you in maybe after a big fight or anything similar,
if you would like to add on to this feel free as this would give someone a further idea of the scope of this business and the potential earnings
many thanx jonny

martin i think you should read this file.

Do not under estimate the physiological ramifications of these jobs and remember most of the time you will be dealing with the owner of the property if they are a landlord not to bad if a private residence they are more than likely the next of kin. Never do this kind of work alone and always make sure PPE is appropriate to the job in hand. Jabs are up to date. Yes it pays well but there are many reasons why it pays well.
