I know this has been discussed lots on here about what people find are the best rubbers for trad. I know that for longer intervals between cleans use hard rubber and soft for more frequent cleans. Well i only ever use trad for internal cleans now, what is the best rubber for these?
-
Pullex soft. The interval between cleans would have nothing to do with it,
Peter

i find unger hard the best, although they dont seem to last very long.
I tried pulex hard the other day ... waste of money!

I agree with Peter, Pulex soft rubber has always been my choice. However I have now started using Ettore Master rubber and have found it to be just as good.
I have tried Unger, but could never get on with it.
-
i use pulex soft , very economical , i use 12" & 18" channels, so i buy in bulk ,
10 -36" rubbers is cheap to buy , and i cut to lenghts required.
tried ettoire but dearer and are not any better , unger - crap rubber
daz
-
ettoire for me
-
Thanks guys, i will stick with my Pulex soft.
:)

Allex I used to swear by the Ettore rubber at one time but you have to watch out for bad batches. Some of the rubber width is different from the bead to the working edge, and if you get some of the bad rubber, the soap travels over the back and onto the glass.

how long does a rubber last everyone?
i need to change mine every 3/4 days.
-
I cant get on with pulex seem they seem to start leaving thin soap marks after about a week, very annoying! always thought ettorie were good!
-
ive never had a problem with unger soft .

Strange how we all have our favourites.
I switched from Ettorre to Pulex years ago for the same reason.
I recently started using Pulex soft and I think they're even better.
I used to change them every 4-5 days. However, I've recently tried dog-earing my channels and as well as making for less detailing it seems to have increased the blade life a little. Can't work out why this should be the case though. I would have thought they would wear out quicker.
-
to find a good rubber you allso need to find a good soap , since starting out ive tryed various rubber and found unger soft to be the best with a bit of stardrops perfect glide .
-
Ive been using Ettore for a few years now more expensive but the results were great.
tommrow trying unger soft then might buy some pulex soft used to use pulex when first starting out carnt remember what its like.
The reason am going to unger soft going to start changing them every 2 days now a day a side keep them fresh edge on rubber keep speed up. I also think theres something on my BOAB keeps nipping the bloody thing really doing my nut in! i think there the main suspect to nipping your rubber myself

Hi richy,
Im using the one on the right too ;D it is much better! What squeequee do you use in that BOAB?
-
SYR makes really good rubber too, not as good as Ettorre but it lasts a bit longer. I've been using it for quite some time.
-
A cut and paste, as I've answered this before...
------------------------------------------------------------
None of them are the quality they used to be.
I did a test on some popular brands a while back.
My findings were as such...
Based on: How well they slide along the glass.
How easily they "cut" and gets nicks in (durability)
How long they last providing they haven't cut.(longevity)
My overall rating.
Marks are out of 10.
All rubbers are the "soft" variety, but I'd imagine the comparison would be similar with "hard".
Ettore : Slide 9. Durability 7. Longevity 8. Overall 8.5. : The best about. ;)
Pulex : Slide 6. Durability 8. Longevity 6. Overall 7. : Don't last 5 mins. :-\
SYR : Slide 8. Durability 7. Longevity 7. Overall 7.5. : Not a bad rubber. :)
(d)Unger: Slide 8. Durability 5. Longevity 7. Overall 6. : Vile. Falls to bits. >:(
So, there you have it...
Ettore best of a bad bunch, but the most expensive.
SYR not too bad, but Pulex is very overrated, and you'll be changing it every 5 minutes. It doesn't cut much, but it goes blunt in a morning.
Unger...slides well, but built like a 1980's Lada Riva. :-\
Hope this of some interest to someone, it took long enough to type it!
Cheers, Rog.
-
that's interesting Rog i shall try ettore out then. I use Pulex hard at the mo, I found they last MUCH longer than Pulex soft.
-
ettore is the best i do have to say! but am going to try a few others see how i get on.
I allways find with ettore you dont need to press as hard as others! i know your not supposed to press hard but with some rubbers you just have to because there crap! lol

stainless steel unger. No problems with it at all

I prefer Syr and then pulex.

That is spot on, exactly what I meant.
Pulex you have to press hard and it knackers my wrist and arm over time.
Ettore is just so smooth and easy.

Pullex soft. The interval between cleans would have nothing to do with it,

It has to be Pullex soft rubber. They do a soft and a hard, not much different to look at or the feel of it, but if you let both rubbers hang over the edge of the table you will see the difference. And it makes a huge difference when using them.

i agree with alex and peter
i always used ettore, then a mate said try pulex soft
i was well impressed, i still use ettore, but mostly pulex soft
-
I used Pulex soft again today, and they were dragging badly by lunchtime, and leaving lines.
I honestly don't know what people see in them.
I think they're cheap rubbish.

hi rog sounds like you have some unger rubbish there ;D ;D
honestly i have never had any bad pulex :o
-
Pulex for me. Only change it when its leaves line and I would say thats maybe once a week.
Roger if you get lines after only a mornings work then you must be doing something wrong ??? Too much pressure or not taking care of it. Maybe you use the rubber to clean sills.
I think im gonna try ettoire next.

Yeah least someone agree's with me i used to think it was just me ;D but i was the same with pulex kills your wrist lines everywere wear's out fast too. lol there a waste of time putting them off u gotta take them off again
-
Hm, my rubbers don't seem to last as well now I'm wfp, sometimes I use pure water in my bucket with detergent, sometimes just tap. But even if I only used it once, and after that left it for one or two days, the rubber feels weird, almost like it's gone old. You know what I mean? I never had then when the thing was wet the whole day.

Cheers Dave.
Can't believe no-one else has noticed how crap they are.
I can only assume they haven't tried Ettore.
You're right, barely worth putting them for 2 houses. ;D
The "Lidl" of rubbers. ;D

I had to have a week off after that Stan. ;D
