I have an 85 amp hour sealed battery, this ran flat on me today. This is the first time this has happened as I charge it every other night, and only run the Varistream on number 2 setting.
This battery is only about 6 months old.
The battery is as I said sealed, but it does have one screw in plug at the top, when you take it out there is a piece of clear plastic about 2 inches long on the end of it.
Apart from maybe using this screw plug for filling the thing when it's new, does it have any other function?

Sounds like either its a dud battery or perhaps the chargers not charging the battery correctly

My battery was playing up today,.. i'm told the cold weather can kill a battery once its on its way out already.
I use a split charge relay,.. haven't manually charged my battery for a year or more! I'm going to charge it fully tomorrow, and see how it goes next week.

Take a tip from a guy who runs 2 pumps off each vehicle wired DIRECT to that VEHICLES BATTERY.

Had the same problem last week ,got to about 1 30 and we had no power to run the pump .
I have a split relay as well , it was only later on in the day after we had finished that i realized that i had left plugged in my sat nav and that must have drawn the power from the battery as now its been fine ever since
I will just have to remember next time !

It seems to be charged up OK now, does anyone know what that single screw plug is for?

it could ben intermittent problem, i had similar problem with my mondeo battery think it was the connections on the inside playing up........ got it replaced under warranty, try and do the same from where you bought it
