i'm thinking of taking cod liver oil to help the pain i've been getting in my left shoulder caused by window cleaning.
I know a few guys on here take it, but does it really help?
my shoulder is becoming a problem now.
-
Works for me ;D
-
yes it does work, got this from karl ;D

Yes it works but it has to build up in your system over a period of time for maximum benefit.

dave, dont waste your time, get a prescription for 400mg of ibuprofen,
it does work, can take up to a week though,

Don't be daft and believe the 7 seas adverts!
Whatever you do don't ignore it. Go and see your GP or a good physio. Foul tasting cod liver oil is a placebo as it gets digested in the stomach, then into your blood stream. At no point does the so-called beneficial oil lubricate your joints.
Could be you have rheumatism (I have in my left thumb) in which case Ibuprofen will ease the pain considerably.
By-the-by..why do you say does w/c causes it?

because i only get the pain after i've been window cleaning all day. i'm positive its because of window cleaning. its some kind of repetitive strain disorder
-
why dont you try glucosamine sulphate i know a lot of window cleaners use it as well as cod liver oil it works for me helps lubricates the joints and takes the stiffness away

I had it get really bad 2 years ago, and that's what pushed me into getting wfp.
It seemed a bit less like hard work, and a change of action.
I pray it doesn't happen again though, although I get twinges after half hour squeegeeing. :-\
It started in my shoulder, and spread down my bicep and back up my neck.
I was in absolute agony all over that side.
I couldn't turn my head, I could barely sleep, and it was agony even when sat perfectly still.
I guess the swelling trapped a nerve.
I had physio and saw chiropractors, and none of it helped much.
I was off work for over 5 weeks.
Ibuprofen helps a little, but you shouldn't use it for long periods, as it wrecks your stomach.
For god's sake, get to a doctor NOW before it gets like mine was. :o

i've heard guys on here moaning about wfp giving them shoulder and elbow pain as well. It just seems that whatever you do, trad or wfp, you're going to get it at some point.

do you get sharp pains at night, if you sleep on that side dave, if so, it was the same as what i had, and it is caused by constant shoulder movement, the doc said i had to take a week of, while on the prescription, he said if i did not take his advice, i will be of work for months, it is so seriouse, if you continue to work with it, you will end up with permanent damage, and never wfp again, i took his advice

the thing is a couple of months ago i had two weeks off for a holiday and i was hoping it would get better by the time i got back, but it was just the same again after a couple of days work

My doc said I had femoral arthritis in my knees - take this Ibrufen when you get pain and try glucosamine, which didnt work even after 6 weeks. Didnt fancy the ibrufen for long term answerbecause of the stomache reaction then read this- :)

It works ;D ;D ;D sorted my knees and shoulder rsi. Tastes like cheap white wine. I also think you should give the fish oil time maybe 3-6 months, simiar with the honeygar, capsules are not big enough try a tablespoon shaken with milk or O juice.
-
keep taking the ibuprofen, if nothing happens in a week, see the doc about ultrasonic sound treatment, about six 5min sessions, that works to but is a bit expensive
-
Dave, I'm no expert in the subject (but my cousin is...she's a doctor of 28 years) and she absolutely assures me that Cod Liver Oil whilst doing no harm will NOT relieve RSI.
Seriously mate go and see your GP. Leave it and it could become chronic!
-
yeah i'll pay my doctor a visit
hope i dont have to have it amputated

I had the problem years ago, my doctor gave me a cortisone injection right into the joint, it works but hurts like hell when he's giving it.
I am suffering a bit today, I have a pain just inside my right shoulder blade, I'm sure I pulled a muscle yesterday when I was extending a ladder to get onto a balcony, never bothered me when I was extending ladders 60 or more times a day.
-
i think it does help

alot of martial arts types take Cod liver oil, most of my old club used to take it, even the youngsters
-
I have a pain in my shoulder caused by a combination of trad window cleaning and testing if gravity can be overcome by willpower.
the conclusion, WFP is the way I'm going, and gravity wins no matter how hard you consentrate.
Does anyone know how cod liver oil helps with skull fractures?
:o ??? :-[

About 18 months ago I had severe problem with my right shoulder. In the end I could not move it from my side, the pain was so intense. I went to Dr who referred me to the Hospital, I cant remember what they diagnosed, but some how calcium from my bone had got into my shoulder joint. I had electronic pulse treatment and phsyiotherapy, various prescription tablets, consisting of anti inflammatories, pain killers, and tablets to stop the anti-inflammatories causing my gastic ulcer to reappear. I was in aright mess.
Mate the treatment was all NHS funded and it was first rate.
The Physio did say that if I hadn't got treatment quickly the problem would have become chronic.
I still get night pain, but no affects whilst im working.
Go see GP soon as.

i think it works
my doctor calls it gtx for window cleaners ;D
also eat plenty of mackrel or sardines, three times a week
works for me

I took it for a while and found it did help. Then I switched to a lighter pole, and never looked back. I use a modular CF fishing pole for anything over 18',... its a bit slower putting togeter & packing away, but my shoulder never hurts anymore.

if everything worked... we all would be taking 50 tablets a day... and and a swig of every potion per day... and putting every youth cream on sale on our faces, every day....
lol..... sorry but my sense of hunour is a little sensitive tonight...
