what are peoples general feelings about getting the above ?
-
depends on the amount of business/type of business you are after, and the level of advertising you are doing, not amazingly expensive to get, about 100-200 setup and a set fee for the month gives you upto 500-600 mins free, about 15-20 quid a month i think, but if you are just leafletting small houses i wouldnt bother, if you are going for loads of work, and big commercial etc, etc it will help maybe to get the extra odd call, but i only use home number and mobile and both ring pretty frequently, but like i say maybe theres one or 2 more who would pick up for a free phone number??

hi i have decided to go for the offer i got .A punt of £150.00 one off for 1000 free minutes. I am going to have van sign written and think that just one number would be good .Currently i use home and mobile but am worried that i might miss out if home phone is chosen and not being there they wont be bothered with expensive mobile number!!!! ITs a one off and even if just family use it its not loads of money.I will keep all informed how i get on.

I had one and I found it really didn't help. I also tried an 0845 number which yielded the same result. I think customers and clients prefer a local number. I have two local numbers from the two nearest local towns, They do much better.

my personal opinion of 0800/0845 numbers is when ever i see them it,s usually pikeys, i would never ring 0800/0845 number for a quote just in case it is.

I use www.sipgate.co.uk
I have a local code number which is diverted to a mobile.

the coment abuth i did say to him about that he sad ther not biying them from him

Is any serious customer going to be influenced one way or another? I really wouldn't have thought so, for a window cleaner its just a gimmicks. Save your money.

Useful imo if you operate in a number of different area codes and want the customers to feel that you are local to them.
For example if you work in london and also in wales but want to deal with incoming calls in one location, will a customer from wales ring a london number for a quote?

£150 is way, way, too much. Take a look here www.talk-0845.co.uk £9.95 or £150 ?

Home phone number with answering machine is sufficient in my opinion. Also your mobile. People do ring the mobile as most people these days have loads of cross-net minutes to dispose of. Custies prefer someone with a local number too. An 0800 number could mean that your business isn't a local one. Waste of money I say.
