Title: How much lighter and easier to work with is microbore opp. to minibore?
Post by: [GQC] Tim on November 28, 2008, 10:23:25 am
Title says it all.

My 100m hosereel is really heavy, and lifting in in the van isn't the best thing for my back I think. Before anyone says leave it in the van, it wouldn't work for me due to quite a number of jobs. It makes things so much easier when you can put the reel next to the van.

Is it easy to setup with a digital varistream? I know the old model wasn't a big fan of it.

I now have minibore but previously used microbore. Therisnt anything in it. Minibore is a bit easier to grip and sticks less. It does weigh ever so slightly more.

Very interesting, so it wouldn't be useful at all to change to microbore since the weight difference isn't noticeable?

Minibore in my experience weighs quite a bit more. When we are lifting the dry reels around the warehouse the Microbore feels a lot lighter.

Of course the weight of the water inside the hose is quite a weight. 100m minibore has the potential to hold 2.51kg of water whereas 100m of microbore will only hold 1.88kg of water.

i noticed that minibore was ever so sleightly heavier than micro. now i cant tell it isn't microbore. The minibore is just that bit more substantial, without being anywhere near as bad as half inch. and if you need, more water goes through it.

Maybe next time I will try some microbore, the stuff gardiners sell doesn't wear very quickly though!  ;D
