Replaced all my connectors with new brass Hozelocks yesterday and whilst fiddling about and tweaking my system i noticed that if i altered the angle of the hose just a tad i could hear air hissing into the system (i pull through di rather than push). They are dreadful. The only way i could get them air tight was to smear waterproof grease around the male end. Maybe they need more pressure to lock them. I think push fits would be better where water is pulled rather than pushed.

why do you pull and not push? whats the benefit? sounds like you've created a problem for yourself.
have to agree though that hoselock and other non branded fittings can be rubbish (even the brass ones).
I use gardener hoselock style fittings , you can get them in B&Q, they cost twice as much but are 10 times better and I've never had them leak.

I use Gardenia stuff ..had them 7 months now no probs
I know that dont help you mate if youve just spent out on a load of new fittings!! :o

I have to pull 'cos the threads are knackered in my DI so it won't take the pressure - blows the head off. Eventually i will di on my ro and ditch the vans vessel. Don't want to spend just yet 'cos it's an expensive time of year - need new tyres too. :-\

This time of year tyres are very important. Especially if you have to do an emergency brake. They're the only contact between your van and the road. Some things you just don't skip or avoid until the last possible moment. Safety is paramount :)

why do you pull and not push? whats the benefit? sounds like you've created a problem for yourself.
we have been and done this debate and all decided that pulling is better

Gardena plastic works way better than hozelock plastic or brass. Oh and the O rings are the same and only a few pence each.

Homebase own make are alot better tahn hoselock and alot cheaper. They have a larger rubber wash. I examined them on rainy day. Went over to homebase make (they're dark green) and no leaks since. I think they are better than the gardenias.
