ive often thought this but i cant see the ro-unit staying at 0.00ppm for long it might for a month or two but it will start to creep up, mine use too now three mths later it comes out at 2-3 ppm. so resin will always be needed at some point,

If my RO settled at less than 005 for a long time I don't think I would use resin TBH.

I stopped using resin as my RO water is around 002-005. As long as it stays in single figures you probably won't need resin.

Mine started to rise a few months ago from 000. Its currently 004. I flush it every other day for half an hour. It seems to have peaked at 004 and is not getting any higher ???

My TDS going in is 95ish and comes out of the RO at 000 and its 4 years old now. I have modified my system so the I can run both Flojet pumps through a single pipe and every day I connect this to the water input and run until the drain is less then 005 TDS. Its a Facelift system and Dan recommended this when I had it installed.
