Not buses, contracts :)
Been posting leaflets, letters, phoning for months and nothing, this week 2 calls :) one for a contract/window cleaning job 7 days a week, and a call today for 2 commercial cleans only 1 hr after i phoned the guy and sent him an email!!! Chuffed to bits, got to go quote one in next hour. Was getting really down about never having the work too, just need patience in future.....fingers crossed now, im going to try put a sensible price in for these units as the company who are subbing it are massive and have loads of stuff my way including cinemas, food chains etc, so hope to get in with them :)
Sorry to rub noses in it, that isnt my aim, but i really need work at the moment so this has made my day.

Well done, its all about rasing you profile the more you put it out there. And some time’s it may be months before you get a response for your efforts. Look at the example of Vicking direct they would drop some leaflet on you mat every week, the when you want to order who is it that is at the front of your mind?
When I used to retail window cleaning equipment, I divided the country into 3 zones and mail shot all window cleaners in each zone, one zone each month. So every 12wks they would have a special offer or a new catalog.
So keep putting your name out there, you only get out watt you put in.

I lost a commercial today :( i was kind of expecting it.
but i've also quoted for 3 commercial this week to so hopefully there is more on the horizon. ;)

Well done Sean. You're not rubbing peoples noses in it at all! I've lost a few domestic customers in the last week but I was pleased to see its not all doom and gloom and someone is still picking up new customers.
My books are pretty much full until xmas so come January I will canvass and advertise like mad and hopefully will pick up new jobs like you!

Thanks for support, it is out there, and without stealing work :) I know business is business but i reckon that carry on will bite you back in the butt one day :)
the one i priced is about 100 panes around 3 foot by 3 in and out, what would you charge? 60 at first floor and 40 at ground in and out once a month, for a company who are subbing it too so cant go daft on price....
any ideas?
-
£100 maybe if your subbing it off some one i find that you can build up a relationship and sort of feel around what they expect to pay
-
100 really i reckon in and out is gonna be 6 hours though? Or am i way out??
-
sean i havent seen it so you know best but if its a 100 normal size windows with no access problems then i would usually price around this and also try to be competitive so you will hopefully get more work.....but dont cut your own throat

Yeah i know what you mean, they are average only there is on around half, a small window under the big one, so that a quarter of it is split from the rest of the pane - that make sense? which will make trad inside slow, 6 hrs def, so that is at least 150 to me??

100 done in and out, so that is 200 - you would do for £100? i will try stick a pic up later
-
sorry sean yes £200 inside and out but if i felt there would be more work to come i would maybe quote £175.
-
Well done :) that was my exact thought, well my wifes actually i said 200, she said do 175 to get more work :) so you too think alike, but in a good way haha, i might say 185 on phone and let him knockme down too 175, or if not its a bit better eh :)
Cheers Ronnie lad

Did you find another employee yet from when i seen you that time you said the kid you had let you down? As i had a lad ring me a couple of weeks back who had cleaned for 6 yrs i think he said with a relative but fell out with him and needed job and had his own transport so if you are interested i can dig the number out.....

i dont do most of it ;) i have friends who do those things so the intention should i manage to blag someone would be to sub or employ them, for instance my best mate does fire protection for a job, so i would pay him per hour to do it for me etc etc, but the other stuff - contract cleaning i have done as a job before and helped sell/manage the jobs, that is how i got into this game, and my other pal is a builder so i can use him if needed almost like a facilities management thing, but its all to try attract people to ring, and if i can offer the others to bag WC then so be it, and might make a few quid out of them at same time, may be ill be next OCS one day :)
-
Goodluck sean,
dont get too much work , leave some for me ;)
-
Sounds like you are doing pretty well mate, im small fry, for now ;)
If you need a hand on any of your big jobs id be happy to help for some experience on bigger stuff.....and i am no probs working nights as i have done night cleaning before, anyway its there if you need it,
Thanks
