I use customers supply for pressure washer, it can be a pain the my bum sometimes as they say they will be in then go out.
Kev R knows a lot in regards to this subject.

It would be a good idea to plug it in via an rcd socket. Gives you added fault protection outside.

Have a look through some other vac posts, that myself, Kevin R, Mr H (i think the name is)and ftp have contributed in, about a month ago - i appreciate it means a bit of searching on your part, but there is a lot of info regarding this.

Kevin R has said he wont be giving advise regarding the subject anymore. Maybe he was a bit peed of with the DIYers at the time, but he may have changed his mind since.

Ask on those threads, it would jog minds easier to be able to go back to them and read through.

But in short, use Arctic cable, spash proof blue connections, an rcd unit. Perhaps use a pvc cover over your appliance, and ensure correct ratings and fuses, and fully lay out cables flat not wound up..

Unfortunately these questions get asked again and agian, and the people who have contributed wont contribute fully again in detail as they have already done so before.

If you use a large leisure battery in your van topped up by a split charge relay could you not buy an inverter such as they sell in maplins ? and plug the vac into that or would it just drain the battery too quickly ? sorry if that sounds a daft idea, I know very little about electronics :-\ just a thought

If the battery had the power to cope, maybe, but last time i looked inverters for approx 4-5 thousand watts were about £1-3 grand!

get a generator or use custy electric.
