I've got a job coming up in a few days to clean a glass-roofed conservatory inside and out. The glass is this self-cleaning variety. As the panels are probably double glazed, the inside probably isn't self cleaning.
Doing the outside and inside upright panes are no problem, it's cleaning the inside of the roof.
I guess that it's a mop and squeegee job. Is that right? Is there a special technique for squeegeeing a sloping panel with a standard squeegee?

Firstly i would suggest you get stable ladder and then just squeegee as normal, i normally follow with the mop to catch drip's.

I use a swivel squeegee and aplicator, and use a pole.
Soap several pannels at a time and let them soak, then go back to the first.

This is an easy way to do the job,but its no good for detailing, some customers are very very fussy, believe me i no.

plenty of towels on the floor and move the furniture as the drips can be really black.
If you get on alright with it, try and get the customer to agree to 3 monthly, then the drips will be clean and you might even get away with a damp scrim over the squeegee .

only ever done one...... never again. ;)

Keep some windows open or the door to stop it steaming up..
-
I should of said keep your mouth closed if you use a sqeegee it can taste very nasty..
-
One more thing i should add is... if its one of those con roofs that all the panels meet in the middle sort of thing then make sure you have a paint brush handy..
-
use a short pole . for detaleing use end of pole with srim on it , and towels to mop up ,not as bad as it looks to do

Buy one of those floor mops from a pound shop. the type with a lever on the handle to squeeze the sponge bit out. Then wrap a microfibre cloth (doubled up) over the sponge mop head and secure it with a bit of masking tape. You can use that for detailing.
If you buy two you can use the other one as an applicator then wring it out and take most of the suds off again before you squeegie.

Im sorry, but can you imagine how that would look to the customer?
Talk about bodge!

I had a job a month ago where I had to clean the inside of a conservatory. For me the best method was a Wagtail and extension pole. The results were very good too. ;D

I dont mind doing them, got one to do this weekend .
I just squeegee as normal. I put down a big clean dust sheet and saves using a load of towels. No probs

Ive got a pro curve pole which is great for this type of job.

Roy - I done a consevatory a little while ago it was the whole height of the house at the back two floors high,if when using your pole how do you stop the pole from hitting the walls when you squeegee of the soap.Would you still use your pole on this or would you use a ladder to get closer for detailing.Ps all the cross members were dirty and need to be cleaned with soapy water and wipe down, can you still do this with your long pole ;D ;D

What I do is squeege down the roof and as you get close to a wall put more presure on the pole and pull the pole back in the bottom. You then may have 18" to 12" left wet, then use a pointer to take the last bit off.

Roy - i now no why you dont use a ladder,Its because if you go up a ladder the customer can see up your kilt and that would probably give them a heart attack ;D ;D ;D ;D

I do a fairly large conservatory roof, inside and outside, every-other-month.
There's furniture all over the place; a real pain; so I just use brute strength and ignorance; I handbash the lot with microfibre and a spray from a set of step-ladders.
