Title: Safe contractor method statement
Post by: rs_cleancare on November 22, 2008, 07:15:00 am
Hi,

I have now sent two method statements which have both failed for application for safe contractor.

If anyone could help who has passed this and would be able to share there method statement for tradional and wfp i would be very greatfully.
In return I would be more than happy to give you a copy of a letter that i send out to commercial clients to drum up new work which has a very good responce and bought in some very lucrative work.

Thanks!
Rob.

Think about it logically

You have to state the obvious , manager.... site supervisor........
author,,,,,,,,,, your position .... date

outline the hs objectives
what the activity entails
the locationany restrictions
access
environment
how you are going to safeguard the public etc
emergancy measures
how many operatives/ what training
ppe
equipment
materials and handling info

Then write down every type of movement you make

1 arrive at building and report to site manager.
2 recieve site induction
3 place out safety cones and barrier tape
switch on water delivery system
5 roll out hose and switch on electrical supply to pump   all etc

Skip a few it should become obvious by now what more you need

13 lift pole to a comfy position......blah blah

15 wash window using an up and down motion using your body etc
16 clean all windows on that level  etc

28 pack away blah blah

See what i mean you really have to spell it out

Basically its a "idiots guide" of step by step method to doing the work, as David has put.

Im changing mine as we speak, to include the kitchen sink!

You need to know how to do this properly in your own eyes, rather than just use one that somebody else has made, cos if anything happens the poo is on them (safecontractor) and you, and then makes a mockery of the safecontractor scheme.

Think about it, if you have an accident at work and do not know how to do a proper method statement you wont be looked at in a very good light in court!

This has been a real eye opener for me, regarding H&S and its gonna cost me a fortune in postage to send all this required paperwork back to them!
