I've been asked to provide COSHH details with my risk and method statement for an office building quote - serious!
COSHH is the Control of Substances that are Hazordous to Health.
So I've found one for Fairy Liquid (it's inside and out): ;D
http://www.opinfo.net/pdf/COSHH/CPD00823.pdf
But I can't find a COSHH for deionised water?
Has anyone got one of these?
-
i dont know but i heard its AGRESSIVE stuff :) surely you dont need coshh for water, unless theres a risk of drowning ?? :)
-
Could this have something to do with the possibilities of LEGIONNAIRES DISEASE maybee ??? is that spelt right
-
Just because it's water doesn't mean it doesn't have a COSHH data sheet.
It could be some sort of weak acid solution, not water I'm using, for all they know?
But if you google, I can find information similar to a COSHH data sheet, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for; though it will fit the bill.
I can't be the first window cleaner to be asked for COSHH details; in fact on my method and risk assessment I say that I can provide them on request ( ;)).
-
Oh, the offices I'm cleaning do something with regards to fossil fuels; something clever; I'm not sure exactly, and all their contractors have to show that they're 'green' and 'environmentally friendly'.
Honest, I'm not making this up.

tell them your varistream is powered by a hamster on its wheel, rig up a red and black cable and route it somewhere you cant see , shove it up the poor little guys a$$ and prove it to her.
Hey presto.......your a GREEN window cleaner :D

Sorry mate, thought even you could see the irony in needing a coshh sheet for water?

I could/can; I even said 'water?' when I was asked for COSHH details on any chemicals I would be using. But after giving it a bit of thought, I think it's fair enough. As I say, I might be a bit 'crazy' and decide to use some liquid acid solution or something.
I guess it's their umbrella.
-
yeah but you can supply a coshh sheet and still use acid if your "crazy" that doesnt make sense?
-
I have actually got one for water and I am trying to find it.

Hey, I'm just a window cleaner! A Geordie one at that; but it's a nice job and the lady I've been dealing with is pretty.

Cheers!
toshisba@yahoo.co.uk if you find it; that'll be a beer I owe you.

I have actually got a simpler one than this that I have laminated, but since changing vans and cleaning out the old one it has got misplaced with all the other crap that collects in a works van.
However feast your eyes on this and sort out the tasty bits.

I think to sum it up the only risk would be from drowning in it. LOL
