Hi all,

New to carpet cleaning and this forum but have found the threads really useful. I have a few issues that i'd really appreciate some honest advice on as have been swamped with sales calls since I attended NCCA course a few weeks back.

NCCA are unable to comment on specific products or recommend. But I am basically looking for the most effective portable HWE machine to start with. I was going to go for Truck mount but my town is mainly flats and parking is hell.

Any recommendations, private messages welcome. Have been looking at Ninja and Alltec Advantage??? Needs to be portable up stairs and as powerful as possible.

Also, I want to charge per square metre and work out a minimum charge, I will be charging London rates and will only be doing carpets and upholstery and mattresses.

Thanks a lot for any help in advance, really keen to get going.

Oh yeh, one last thing, been struggling to find a good insurer that knows what treatments risk cover is?? Any recommendations,

   It would be a good idea to visit your local cleaning suppliers and ask their advice regarding which machine too buy. Look at all of the top companies websites and see which machine is best for you and your budget. It is good that you have done the most important thing first and thats training. I wish you good luck in your future enterprises.

Ive got a ninja and advantage

Advantage - quicker drying due to parrelle (sp) vacs, looks smarter, bigger tanks, better emersion heater, will damage easily due to being fibreglass, only has a low pressure pump., very quiet.
Ninja - plastic so tougher, easier lifted up stairs, more options if desired, bigger pumps.

I would also look at the CFR, eclispe or recoil before the above but the two latter portables require 3 cords and a heat exchanger which are major hassle.

I don't know what type of flats you intend cleaning JD, but if you are doing the average two or three story house and if you can find three plug points on the ground floor and another plug point on the first floor to plug in the booster unit you will not need to take a Recoil upstairs at all. In blocks of flats this is not usually possible so getting a heavy portable up flights of stairs can be difficult if not impossible without help.
From my own experience I have always found Extracta machines better for hauling upstairs because of their sturdy build.
