I have in the past set a target of say £25 worth of new work to pick up every week. And it is surprising how this can help to keep you focused on keeping your turn over increasing. :)
It doses not sound a lot but it’s a goal to achieve, and more to the point attainable. By the end of 4 weeks you will have increased by £100. :) The following £200, ;D if you worked for a company and they offered you a pay rise every month of a hundred pounds, you would think what a great company. :)
So lets all set a target starting this week of £25 and post the results each day.
No pain no gain.

Great idea Roy, however, i'm turnig work away because i'm so busy. I couldn't possibly fit in another £200 per month.
Any advice?
-
55 pound last week, still not got a full round built, but it is building nicely now
-
Stuart,
Are in the WFP club?
If you aren't, then get one! You won't be turning work away for a while thats for sure ;)

I have always found that if you take on a job at a better price, or easier than one your doing or don’t like doing , that’s a forward step. :)
-
Fair point Roy i will give it ago.Great advice im sure theres the odd customer we all could lose.
-
I was once told by a very succesful bussines man that once you stop growing then there's only one way to go.
I actively seek new bussiness all the time and if I have more than I can cope with guess which customers get droped?
-
problem.i dont have enough work because what used take 4 .5 days is taking little more then 3 with wfp.and i need more work.whats the BEST way for better/quality work? ???
-
Maybe Im at the top.
Jammy so and so. I'm about third rung up!
-
not got full round yet but pick up at least one new clean each time i go,out, :) is that good enough to be starting with
-
Yeah, course it is, if you are picking up a constant feed of new work then that can only be good.

Big IF?
Don't follow you there, if you are picking up work constantly, whats the big IF about ???
More power to your elbow I say, 2 new accounts for me today and three more to price up this week so far, all at good prices and all from being asked, as against touting for it.
From being full up with work prior to WFP, I am now actively taking on new work as a direct result result of said WFP, and no, not because I have lost work either ;D.
Lost only one account as a result of WFP and gained about 30 or so ;) Actually I think that may be more, I shall have to count up ::)

having said that...one extra account a day....over a year is 360 new customers....you can even take 5-6 days off then.... :)
-
Picked up 2 jobs today £30. :) good jobs 30 mins to complete both no travelling. :)
-
Hi roy picked up two today as well only £15.00 but better than nothing.
-
Well done its a move forward. :) :)
-
Snap, same here, two jobs; only £14.00. Two small houses! :-\
not got full round yet but pick up at least one new clean each time i go,out, :) is that good enough to be starting with
Anyway, getting back to earlier posts, one new job a day is spot on. They come like buses. You'll have days when you don't get any, and others when you'll get several.
Picking up new work is a like the 'snow ball effect'. The bigger your operation gets, the more people will see and hear of you. Therefore more chances of getting phone calls and being nabbed in the street.
The longer you clean windows, the easier it gets. You get fitter, stonger and more skilled. Then you start putting up your prices on your current jobs, and start taking new jobs on at higher prices.
The next thing you know, you're cleaning more houses than you ever thought you could, and earning more per job.
You've just got to stick at it mate. Get disheartened by all means, but don't give up.
Take some of what you hear here with a pinch of salt (or a handfull if it's from me) from some types of people. I'm sure you're bright enough to know what I'm talking about! ;)

-

When you are filled to the top with your workload, do you consider subcontracting some and doing some, or is it prefferable to do what you can yourself and drop less porofitables? 8)
Of course as you know, I have gone the sub route. Even tho it has it's problems, I do like sleeping until 8 or going out on the lake on afternoons. ;D
But it is a close call. Today I had to go to the police and arrange for an officer to go with me to Cindy's house so I can get my tools back. :P
I kick myself in the butt because I went against my policy with Cindy. ???
Normally a subcontractor works for 2 weeks and then gets paid for what they did the first week.
With Cindy I fell for her sad stories, and let her slide; WHAT A CHUMP!!! I am angry at myself. If a worker has money coming to them, they will absolutely give you back everything.
Subing versus one man operation; a bit of a dillema. Both are good ond bad.

last week i picked up £34-00 in new work, yesterday it was £16 this is from being out on the job and not canvassing, this is all very well at the moment as i'm in the position to take on more, however there will come a time when i will have to stop taking on new customers as i'm not superman and can only do so much in a monthly turnover, i know nobody likes turning work away but i'm not prepared to take on a partner/employee because of all the health and safety regs so where do i go from here to make more money?

easy,
£340- for working 9 - 4 sounds like an excellent day.
is that you on your own ?
or are there 2 of you ?

We've had a blinding day (by our standards), but lost one customer due to 'death'. He was old and disabled and it had nothing to do with me.
I did have two who died last year actually owing me money! I'm not worried, I'll get 'em when I meet up with them. I never let anyone get away with not paying me.
It was a small pensioners bungalow, four windows and a door. So I've picked up £14.00 and lost £5.00; therefore a running balance of £9.00.
-
Only worked half day, tatal so far £30 :)
