I had my 60ft extel pole stolen off my van some time since wednesday night.
So if anyone is offered one let me know.
The pole is unusual as it has a metal ferrule fitted by Alex G, there are a few other tell signs i wont mention on here, so i can easily identify it.
Reward of £200 for its return

I'll keep my eyes and ears open Dave as I would recognize it.
-
when you say it was stolen off your van dave how do you mean , was it just strapped 2 the roof bars or did you have a pole tube ?
they are tossers at the end of the day (sorry about the swearing ) , im in yorkshire dave and if i hear anything being sold i would let you know .
-
I would ask if any other window cleaners that use this forum live in your surrounding villages to keep an eye open for someone new or someone who is now using a 60ft pole, and i could almost gaurantee that this would be the people or person who has stolen your pole.
-
Also dave you could get a family member to phone a few of the window cleaners near your area, and ask them that you need some windows cleaned on the 5th or 6th floor and see which ones could do the clean for you,it would probably be one of these wc that has stolen it. ;)

Sorry to hear that Dave will keep eyes open , seems like every man and his dog is window cleaning in Truro area , Lots of cars and vans with poles on top , will take more notice now Ned

I Am going to inform the police tommorrow as well as the local papers, maybe the radio.
I am going to put the reward in the paper, someone somewhere would have seen the thieves erecting the pole somewhere.
There isnt that many 60 ft extel poles in Cornwall, so I will find it.
The pole was taken out of a pole tube on the roof, it wasnt locked, i have done this for the last 3 years with no problems, maybe a lesson learned.
The top section only extends about 3 ft, as my son dropped it from a great height and shattered the top section, so if you see anyone using one with the top section not fully extended let me know.

There are so many topics regarding vans being stolen on here.
Sorry Dave to hear you had your pole stolen, you should have known better and locked your pole storage tube.
Thieves look for easy opportunities.
I always locked my van IF I'm out of sight of my van whilst I'm working, even if I'm only ten seconds. Had someone try to break in to my van in the early hours one morning and another whilst I was around the back of a property whilst cleaning during the day in a leafy suburb with witnesses about.
Thieves may be watching you and your habits for some time before making their move. They look for easy opportunities.
Don't give thieves the opportunity in the first place, lock it.

Just another note the pole didnt have any hose or brush or gooseneck on it.
So if anyone orders 60ft pole hose in Cornwall ?
We have 3 vans out in Cornwall every day so we will find that pole. that pole is so hot , whoever has kidnapped had better hide because we will find you.
-
Sorry to hear that Dave

Sounds to me like a newbie trying to get into commercial work.
Have you been asked to quote for high work lately? or have any other cleaners that you know in your area? Who got the job? I can't see any of your major competitors taking the chance.
It's a bit late for knocking conkers and chestnuts out of trees so don't think it would be kids, but you never know.
Just a thought. dai

I must say Dave I admire your tenacity, but if i had knicked it i would make sure it gets sold out of the borough. I hope you find it, not a cheap piece of kit.

Alex
Put the reply here from the other post
Heres why the semi redundant ( I admit ) was on the roof.
As you know we clean the Tate in St Ives (another plug) but when we were there it was way too winday for the supalite as usual, the wind which blows off Porthmeor beach was horrendous, so out comes the 60 ft extel, one of my lads couldnt be bothered or struggled to thread the pole hose through the gooseneck, so he whippied the hose out and just had it dangling, -by the way he was using a Gardiners g-fit gooseneck, which is an excellent piece of kit.
Hence when it was finished with it was put back in the tube bare, and forgotten about until i noticed there was 2 60 ft hoses in the van, and thought that strange, thats when i knew it had gone.
So to tell the truth the pole was semi redundant , the supalite was first choice aprt from when it was to windy to use, as the excell was a bit heavier, it always coped with a bit more wind so it still had its uses. Also we have plenty of jobs where 2 big poles are needed.
Also Alex I was jealous of you being in the papers last week and didnt want to be left out,

;D ;D ;D
Couldn't let you have all the notoriety.
