like to know how other window cleaners fill when out working and come across other window cleaners
-
Give a wave and smile as I drive past. Can't see the point in being ignorant. Have passed work to others and vice versa.
-

I always stop and have a chat if we are working the same area. I have been met with suspicion once or twice, but generally the other guys have all been friendly.
I always acknowledge other cleaners when driving too. Only once have they not waved back - I just got the hard stare! >:(
;D

Good luck with it mate! As long as the leaflets are good ones, you should notice a definate improvement in the amount of enquiries recieved and even if they don't call straight away, they are far more likely to keep the leaflet for future use! Laminating gives the leaflet a quality look and more importantly makes it harder to screw up and throw away, so far more likely to get read!! :)

i am going to try this as well . i am going to pick and choose bigger houses to try and get better quality work to go with my normal. if i deliver 100 this way and only get 1 it will be worth it.
let you know how i get on.

On your patch!?
How can window cleaners have a patch... except on a torn piece of clothing.. or ya teddy bear. You can't have patches any more... no one owns an area... unless we represent a Cosa Nostra. ::)
I must be missing something... Patches I thought they were long gone....

I always stop and talk
-
They arnt very friendly around here.... Always view you with suspicion.
I am getting a complex :-\
Hi Stan.......How was the holiday?
-
If i get the opportunity i'll stop and talk / aknowledge etc, nice to chat about work and stuff.
As for patches ????? what defines a patch ???
Is it where you live ?
Is it where most of your work is ?
Is it i got here first ?
I wont canvas a house with clean windows, but i will if the windows are dirty does that mean i'm on someones patch ?
I'm not trying to be funny or anything i really want to know " WHAT DEFINES A PATCH " ?
-
the patch starts around jon o groats somewhere and runs down to lands end
anywhere in that area is fair game for any wc er ;D
as for how you react to others ,well i know nearly all the blokes round my way and most of us co-operate with each other. I can think of only two exceptions and they chose to set themselves apart from the rest of us,however i can see this situation changing in current financial climate
-
wave! ;D
-
I usually stop for a chat, some guys look the other way when they see me, I wonder if any of these have done something they don't want me to know about.
OK forget about patches, but what do you feel when you hear the rattle of aluminium ladders?
I feel the same as a horny stag, when he hears the bellowing of a rival from just over the hill.
-
i will always stop for a chat and a wind up with the local lads around my way, its good to keep in touch as there all friendly and soon find out if there is a new doggy git out looking for work. there is work for everyone, i just don't like under cutting that's just low and wont be taken around us as we all talk and get on, there is just no need for it try free cleans or something else but saying they will do it cheaper than the present window cleaner is just wrong, off too the woods for them in my mind, i will tolerate most things but not that. also by stopping and chatting to the local guys you often get to see different gear and might find something you like and go out and buy one, Ive even stopped work and gone off to help another cleaner cause his system went down and didn't carry any spares but i did.
as for patches that's a joke.
-
:)I always say hello, ask how things are going etc!
Don't see the need to be nasty... There is one around here, a pint sized midget with a "Big-foot" as a sidekick stares at you just stops work and stares at you!
I think he is either jealous of my good looks or worse he fancies me! :o
-
I usually stop for a few minutes for a chat.
There are a couple round here though that won't say hello or anything, Don't know why but i suppose you get that in all area's.
