Hi all

I’m in the process of buying two more upright vacuums for commercial use, at present I use Karcher CW50’s & Nilco 1207’s I consider the Karcher to be more robust but in my opinion the Nilco’s do a better job and the brush stops when in the upright position, Karchers don’t.  The Nilco’s are also used for domestic work; my last purchase was a Karcher CW30 (not that impressed with it)

I have looked back at previous posts on this type of topic, but would appreciate some positive feedback on past and present users of these models and any suggestions on me trying another make and/or models.  One of my staff suggested the commercial Dyson but I’ve never heard anything about it, the only thing that appeals is no bags to buy!

Any comments best prices etc; would be greatly appreciated.

Paul you need a Sebo BS36.

Anything sub £200 is a decent price.

One of your staff knows and you don’t they have been out in commercial market for years, good as the seem not very Tonka toy if you get my drift, also look the same a domestic

Talking to two vac manufactures yesterday that don’t do upright both said SBO

I have used the Karcher model in the past for carpet cleaning, and had no problems with it as it just kept on going and going and use a SEBO model at our premises. If you were to have a Dyson commercial model are you going to leave it anywhere??....I would imagine it would be very nickable compared to a Karcher or SEBO
Go to the nearest stockist of the Dyson and try one out and see what you think of them

Not that I know anything about commercial vacs, but I can give my opinion of domestic Dysons, having used a cylinder and a number of uprights. Don't bother........they are ok initially, but I have found they lose suction after a while and if something blocks them there are so many fiddly parts to disassemble it can take ages to find the blockage. I only wish Miele did an upright (unless one of you guys knows different) coz their cylinder's are the best domestic vacs I have used (and I have used a few different ones). ;)

Thanks all, the vacuums will be left on site so I understand (Timbob) what you mean.

Sorry Len I didnt mean I'd never heard of a commercial Dyson (I have) but I meant I didnt know how good they were, women just seem to like Dysons must be the good looks!

I have now searched the carpet cleaning section and got some good feedback on Sebo's I think I'll give them a go.

Although as I said in my post Nilco vacuum's are very good I just wondered what you all thought, I thought someone would have given them some praise.

I will try Sebo and let you all know what I and my staff think compared to the 1207(Nilco)

Just to let you know that for some time we did supply the commercial Dyson DC04 upright but have since discontinued it due to reliability issues.

Although we can still get the Dysons to order, the Nilco and Karcher machines are considerably more reliable and effective. Sebo does also have a good name.

As the old saying goes, never judge a book by its cover......Dysons aren't all they are cracked up to be :(

i have a couple of Orecks they are great, so light also have a hand held one for the stairs, very powerfull. the only thing i dont like about them is they have bags!!

I back you on that one honey!  However mine is not a commercial vac so don't quote me too seriously as I cannot judge the commercial product.  I do respect them due to suction, however there is a lot of maintenance in the household usage that goes with it and people have complained to me about loss of suction......you just need to clean them often......something that doesn't come in the sales pitch, I have learnt that from experience and varying performance.  If the same goes for commercial then businesses just don't have the time  ;)

As much as my Dyson is okay and I do like to see what it has sucked up I wouldn't trust it on a customer and the good news is that when I get running I can use the product I find for my business at home instead  ;)

Hi all,

thanks for the replies, Josie I own a couple of orecks the trouble with them is they dont have a hose attachment, but as you say they are very light but very expensive I paid about £280 each.

Mike why dont you sell the Sebo's? I have a Prochem cat sent by Express recently and they are in their, but the BS36 is listed at £295 where can I get one cheaper? Musicman reckons £200 is a fair price.

Solutions UK will give you the best price on a sebo, look into there new sebo dart, this machine is fantastic and at £210 a serious bargain :)

Hi Paul, on the CC forum you state that the Dart is in another league to anything else. Does this include the BS36 or have you not used one of those?

You quote a price tag of £210; is that for the 12" or 14" model? Assuming it's for the 12" version what is the price of the 14" machine?

Although it appears quite innovative the neck does look flimsy and I would have thought that in the commercial environment it would suffer. What feedback can you give please?

Hi,

Yes £210 is for the 12" dart and £230 for the 14". I have used the BS36 and think its a great vacuum but I'm so impressed with the new dart for a number of reasons, very good vacuum power, versatile steering and control with new neck design, light weight, ergonomic and fantastic brush power, It pulls itself along!!!
