Post by: stevie wonder on November 07, 2008, 04:25:49 pm
Got a call from a lady.her daughters carpet had a bit of makeup on it,could I clean it .When I arrived the whole carpet was covered in it.I told her Id try to clean it but I doubt it will all come out. After half a litre
of solvent, prepray , and a fab and fibre rinse  and 2 hours later,I managed to remove all the makeup. And one very happy customer.

Hi Steve

Well done, great job, money well earned.

With Mascara you can also use milk. pour some full fat milk on, agitate into each spot (enzymes will break down the solvent) and then extract out with cold water 1st. (mascara contains both solvents & water based)

Thanks gents, its great when you get a good results.Hasnt anyone heard of prepay its what you get after downing a double vodka just before posting a topic. The room was 12by12 and i charged her 70,because of the amount of solvent I used, and I saved her a new carpet.Ill try the milk next time,as I did get a bit high sniffing all that solvent.

I did a make-up covered carpet a few weeks ago and used citrus gel. It got the make-up off with ease!!

Would the milk work with any make up? Just a reference if the missus ever drops any! I like reading this section, always good for a tips around my own home :P

Chris, you don't want to be putting milk on your carpet unless you can extract it back out.

Hi

It works well with mascara, obviously you extract it all out.

I had one of these today, only it was a WHITE wool carpet.
Clearly the 17 year old must throw it because there was every type of make up all over the place including fake tan.
Very rare that I take the full case of tricks up stairs but it gave a good opportunity to try various solutions. Best results came from Solvex and Citric Gel.
There was still the slightest hint in a few places if you looked hard enough but customer was chuffed to bits. As she's a regular customer I give it 5-6 months before I'm back there again for the same thing ;D
Interesting idea of using milk though.

The solvent I use after testing is a product I purchased from focus diy,its called sticky stuff and it removes everthing.Because it cost 5.00 for 450ml,I phoned the company up that makes it and got 25lt for about 90 quid.Should last forever.Steve.
