Title: Where do I get the external hose fittings for outside the van
Post by: Central Window Cleaners on November 06, 2008, 04:33:27 pm
Can anyone tell me the best place to get the box that fits in the side of the van for your hoses to plug in outside so you can lock all the doors?

Thanks Gazza, I have seen that one but would prefer the one that fits flush in the side like the caravan ones

Hi
trouble is that needs a big hole in the side of the van which is expensive to repair when you come to sell the vehicle. Better a manifold under the bumper as advertised on ebay IMO

drill through the floor of the van at the back and screw a piece of aluminium in a 90 degree angle to the bottom of the bumper, hose  through the floor and then screw fittings through aluminium , when you sell the van you wont lose a penny

Hiya mate,

I've got two of them (one on either side of the van) and they look very slick and professional.

They cost £7.00 each from Atlas camping supplies - Nuttall Street, Old Trafford, Manchester. I dont have the website address but that should be enough info for you to do a google search.

Yes, you need to drill a couple of holes in the side of your vehicle...but after slapping a load of Proteckcoat all over the floor and using it for a couple of years the chances are, you're van is going to be worth very little with or without having a couple of fittings in it  ;D

Lotsd of second hand vans are sold with 'fittings' on them - like British Gas, Electric Board, Rail companies etc etc... it shouldnt adversely affect the price of the vehicle as long as you fit them correctly. They are VERY easy to install.

Thanks David,
I have found their site but they only seem to have tents listed, so I will try my local camping shop up the round.

I plan to keep the van for a few years so not to worried about selling on.

Just one point to note with the through the side of the van ones.

Make sure you fix them as low as possible. The reason for this is that if you are parked up working over anywhere where people walk any tension at all will mean that the hose won't lie flat on the floor for a little way and could easily cause a big trip hazard with subsequent consequences for you.

If you dont get any joy locally, give me a shout and I'll order it for you and post it on.

I dont think you'll run away for the sake of £7.00  ;D
