Phone call today from biggest [ by far ] contract , sorry about this but "credit crunch blah blah blah suspend contract blah blah blah review in the new year blah blah blah " totaly gutted guy ringing me was alright says "made several staff redundant Credit crunch" although he says not lost business but not in line with forecast blah blah blah still totaly GUTTED.
I reckon people say theres a credit crunch and everyone cacks themselves
Still saying i like is "FAILURE ISN'T FALLING DOWN , FAILURE IS NOT GETTING UP AGAIN " So pick myself up brush myself down and start all over again , [ think thats a line from a song ]

I am having to take one day at a time as me loosing a contract would be me loosing ££,£££ i have these contracts in one of the few industrys that aren't really subject to financial problems despite the so called credit crunch however i still think...what if!?!?
That is the downfall of putting all your eggs in one basket i suppose, its risky business. Great in regards to saving massive amounts of canvassing times but in these difficult times it could well bite me in the bum.

Sorry to hear that too.
We have had one large client ask us to cut our costs for the remainder of our contract. We have renegotiated and so far I have managed to keep the contract. The times are going to get harder in my opinion for all of us, commercial and domestic alike.
If its any consolation I have always found that something always turns up to replace what I lose, lets hope this is true for you too.

I lost a contract a few month's ago,very large car sales firm with two sites £220 a month for 3hrs work gutted. The firm went bust due to credit crunch people stop buying car's, everyone seems to be watching what they spend at mo. :'(

i only have 1 contract at moment and do not rely on it. do you think being domestic will help because you lose 1 not so much and always picking new ones up.

Not surprised, paying their window-cleaner £70.00 an hour :)

Work comes and goes regardless of the economic climate, if you lose work through the customer going out of business then there is nothing you can do about that.
If the client is tightening their belt and decide to cut back on cleaning services then try to be flexible, reduce their call frequency or do the insides every other clean etc, but dont reduce the hourly rate you charge unless you really have no option (which is very rare). Nothing stays the same for ever.
We, ultimately, decide whether our business is successful or not.
